Hyliion Holdings Corp. (NYSE: HYLN) has signed a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) with U.S. Energy™, a top developer and distributor of refined products, alternative fuels, and environmental credits. The LOI outlines that Hyliion will install a 200kW KARNO™ generator at a U.S. Energy renewable natural gas (RNG) fueling station to ensure reliable and efficient power supply at the site.
U.S. Energy’s RNG fueling stations are at the forefront of advancing natural gas adoption in commercial transportation. Integrating Hyliion’s KARNO generator will boost the station’s energy efficiency and support U.S. Energy’s sustainability initiatives.
Mike Koel, President of U.S. Energy, commented, “The KARNO generator will provide a dependable electricity source, aligning with our goals for sustainability and operational excellence. Hyliion’s technology enhances our commitment to efficiency and continuous improvement.”
The KARNO generator, a fuel-agnostic solution, utilizes a linear generator architecture for cost-effective and efficient electricity production. It can operate on various fuels, including hydrogen, natural gas, biogas, and propane, offering lower maintenance costs and reduced emissions compared to traditional technologies.
Thomas Healy, Founder and CEO of Hyliion, stated, “We are thrilled to work with U.S. Energy, sharing a dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions. The KARNO generator’s versatility and efficiency make it a perfect match for U.S. Energy’s RNG station, contributing to emission reductions and energy optimization.”
The LOI is contingent upon the signing of a binding purchase agreement.
