Sunoco Reports Strong Q2 2026 Financial Results

Sunoco Delivers Strong Second-Quarter 2026 Performance with Higher Earnings, Cash Flow, and Distribution

Sunoco LP (NYSE: SUN) and SunocoCorp LLC (NYSE: SUNC) reported robust financial and operational results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, highlighting significant growth in earnings, adjusted EBITDA, and distributable cash flow compared with the same period a year earlier. The strong quarterly performance was supported by higher contributions across the company’s diversified businesses, including fuel distribution, pipeline systems, terminals, and refining operations.

The results demonstrate the strength of Sunoco’s integrated energy infrastructure portfolio and its ability to generate consistent cash flow despite changing market conditions. Improved operating performance across multiple business segments also enabled the partnership to continue rewarding investors with another quarterly distribution increase while maintaining a healthy balance sheet and investing in future growth initiatives.

Significant Growth in Net Income

Sunoco reported net income of $283 million during the second quarter of 2026, representing a substantial improvement from $86 million recorded during the second quarter of 2025. The sharp increase reflects stronger operational performance across the company’s core business segments, higher earnings contributions from recently expanded operations, and continued execution of its strategic growth initiatives.

The increase in profitability underscores the benefits of Sunoco’s diversified operating model, which combines fuel distribution, pipeline transportation, terminal services, and refining operations to create multiple sources of earnings.

Adjusted EBITDA More Than Doubles

Adjusted EBITDA reached $982 million during the second quarter of 2026, compared with $454 million in the corresponding quarter of 2025. The year-over-year increase illustrates the company’s strong operational momentum and higher contributions from each major business segment.

The reported adjusted EBITDA for the latest quarter included approximately $14 million in one-time transaction-related expenses, compared with $10 million recorded during the same period last year. Even after accounting for these costs, Sunoco generated substantial growth in operating earnings.

The improvement reflects favorable market conditions, operational efficiencies, strategic acquisitions, and increased utilization of the company’s extensive infrastructure network.

Distributable Cash Flow Strengthens

Sunoco continued to generate significant cash flow during the quarter.

Adjusted distributable cash flow totaled $608 million, more than doubling from $300 million reported in the second quarter of 2025. Stronger operating earnings and stable cash generation from the partnership’s diversified asset base supported the increase.

Higher distributable cash flow provides greater financial flexibility for capital investments, debt management, and continued growth in investor distributions.

Fuel Distribution Remains the Largest Earnings Contributor

The Fuel Distribution segment remained Sunoco’s largest operating business and generated exceptional results during the quarter.

Adjusted EBITDA for the segment increased to $504 million, compared with $206 million during the second quarter of 2025.

The quarterly figures include approximately $12 million of transaction-related expenses during 2026 and $8 million during the comparable period of 2025.

Fuel sales reached approximately 4.1 billion gallons during the quarter, demonstrating the scale of Sunoco’s nationwide distribution network. The business achieved an overall fuel margin of 17.1 cents per gallon, reflecting effective supply management and favorable commercial performance across wholesale and retail markets.

The Fuel Distribution segment continues to serve as the cornerstone of Sunoco’s earnings by supplying gasoline, diesel, and other transportation fuels to a broad customer base across North America.

Pipeline Systems Continue Stable Performance

Sunoco’s Pipeline Systems segment also delivered another solid quarter of operating performance.

Adjusted EBITDA increased to $190 million, up from $177 million in the second quarter of 2025.

Average throughput across the pipeline network reached approximately 1.3 million barrels per day, demonstrating stable utilization of the company’s transportation infrastructure.

The pipeline business continues to provide reliable, fee-based cash flows that complement the company’s fuel marketing operations while supporting long-term financial stability.

Terminal Operations Generate Higher Earnings

The Terminals segment also reported meaningful year-over-year growth.

Adjusted EBITDA reached $113 million, compared with $71 million during the same quarter last year.

The quarterly results include approximately $2 million in one-time transaction-related expenses for both reporting periods.

Terminal throughput averaged approximately 1.1 million barrels per day, highlighting continued customer demand for Sunoco’s storage, blending, and logistics infrastructure.

The terminals business plays a vital role in connecting fuel supply with downstream customers while providing operational flexibility throughout the company’s distribution network.

Refinery Segment Adds New Earnings Contribution

Sunoco’s Refinery segment generated adjusted EBITDA of $175 million during the second quarter of 2026.

The business processed an average of approximately 57,000 barrels per day throughout the quarter.

The refinery segment expands Sunoco’s integrated value chain by providing additional earnings opportunities through fuel production and processing while supporting supply reliability for its broader distribution network.

Distribution Increased for Seventh Consecutive Quarter

Reflecting confidence in its financial performance and long-term cash flow outlook, Sunoco announced another increase in its quarterly cash distribution.

On July 27, 2026, both Sunoco LP and SunocoCorp LLC declared a second-quarter distribution of $1.0023 per unit, equivalent to $4.0092 per unit on an annualized basis.

The new distribution represents:

  • Approximately 1.25% growth compared with the previous quarter.
  • More than 10% growth compared with the second quarter of 2025.

The increase marks the seventh consecutive quarterly distribution increase, reinforcing management’s commitment to returning value to investors through consistent distribution growth.

The latest increase aligns with Sunoco’s long-term capital allocation strategy, which targets a multi-year annual distribution growth rate of at least five percent.

The quarterly distributions are scheduled to be paid on August 19, 2026, to unitholders of record as of August 7, 2026.

Strong Liquidity Supports Financial Flexibility

Sunoco maintained a solid financial position at the end of the second quarter.

As of June 30, 2026, the partnership reported approximately $13.3 billion in long-term debt while maintaining roughly $2.3 billion of available liquidity under its revolving credit facility.

The company ended the quarter with a leverage ratio of approximately 3.7 times net debt to adjusted EBITDA, calculated under the terms of its revolving credit agreement.

The combination of available liquidity and manageable leverage provides Sunoco with the flexibility to pursue strategic investments, support acquisitions, fund capital projects, and maintain shareholder distributions.

Continued Investment in Growth Projects

Sunoco remained focused on expanding and maintaining its infrastructure portfolio during the quarter.

Total capital expenditures reached $202 million during the second quarter of 2026.

The investment program included:

  • $125 million dedicated to growth capital projects designed to expand the company’s operating capabilities and future earnings potential.
  • $77 million allocated to maintenance capital expenditures supporting the safe and reliable operation of existing assets.

The reported capital spending also includes Sunoco’s proportionate share of investments associated with its joint ventures alongside Energy Transfer.

By balancing expansion investments with ongoing maintenance, Sunoco continues to strengthen its integrated network while positioning itself for sustainable long-term growth.

Diversified Business Model Continues to Deliver

The second-quarter results demonstrate the benefits of Sunoco’s diversified energy infrastructure strategy. Strong contributions from fuel distribution, pipeline transportation, terminal operations, and refining collectively produced substantial earnings growth while generating robust cash flow.

The company’s ability to increase distributions for seven consecutive quarters, maintain healthy liquidity, and continue investing in infrastructure reflects the resilience of its business model. As energy demand remains strong and infrastructure continues to play a critical role in fuel supply chains, Sunoco appears well positioned to build on its operational momentum through disciplined capital allocation, strategic investments, and continued execution across its portfolio of energy assets.
