Onterris Wins C$9M Canadian Gas Infrastructure Contract

Onterris (NYSE: ONT), a global environmental solutions company focused on addressing complex environmental challenges, has been awarded a contract valued at more than C$9 million by a leading Canadian energy infrastructure company to provide environmental services for the construction of a major natural gas transmission project.

The contract is expected to generate revenue for Onterris through the end of 2027. The award expands the company’s involvement in a C$3 billion natural gas infrastructure development that is intended to support rising energy demand, industrial growth and broader long-term economic development in Canada.

Once completed and placed into operation, the transmission system is expected to have the capacity to deliver more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. The scale of the project makes environmental planning, regulatory compliance and resource protection important components throughout its development and construction.

Onterris has already supported the project during its earlier development stages. The company provided environmental and technical services during the front-end engineering design and detailed engineering phases, including planning, permitting support, field investigations and regulatory compliance activities.

The latest contract extends Onterris’ role into the construction phase, as well as interim reclamation activities. The expanded engagement reflects the client’s continued use of the company’s environmental expertise and integrated service capabilities as the infrastructure project progresses from design and planning toward physical construction.

“Having been involved since the project’s inception, our experienced team delivers the insight and continuity needed to reduce risk, safeguard natural resources, streamline regulatory compliance, and support efficient project delivery,” said Vijay Manthripragada, Chief Executive Officer of Onterris.

Manthripragada added that the award demonstrates the importance of maintaining strong client relationships throughout the permitting, construction and interim reclamation stages of major infrastructure projects. The company said its continuing involvement allows its teams to maintain project knowledge and provide consistent environmental support as construction activities advance.

Under the new contract, Onterris will provide a broad range of environmental services covering pre-construction activities, construction monitoring and final clean-up. The multidisciplinary scope is designed to help the project meet applicable environmental requirements while protecting sensitive ecosystems and natural resources along the transmission infrastructure corridor.

Among the services included are wildlife protection, aquatic habitat monitoring and compliance programs associated with nesting birds and migratory birds. Onterris will also support amphibian breeding wetland and relocation programs, as well as wetland delineation and protection activities.

Additional responsibilities will include vegetation and soil management, contamination response, invasive species management and biosecurity protocols. Regulatory compliance services will form another important part of the company’s work, helping project teams monitor environmental obligations and respond to requirements during construction.

Geographic information system (GIS) capabilities will also be incorporated into the environmental management program. These tools are expected to help organize, analyze and communicate spatial information associated with environmental conditions, field activities and regulatory requirements across the project.

Digital technology represents a key component of Onterris’ service delivery approach on the project. The company will use an integrated digital management platform supported by enterprise GIS technologies, cloud-based field data collection, interactive dashboards, automated reporting workflows and real-time spatial data management.

These capabilities are intended to improve coordination between field teams, project managers and other stakeholders working across the construction program. By making environmental information more accessible and current, the digital platform can support faster identification of issues and more efficient management of environmental requirements.

The company also expects its technology-enabled approach to improve regulatory reporting and quality assurance. Automated workflows can help organize field information and streamline the preparation of required documentation, while GIS-based systems can provide project stakeholders with a clearer understanding of where environmental activities and potential constraints are located.

Real-time spatial information can also support decision-making during construction by allowing teams to evaluate environmental conditions alongside project activities. This can help identify potential conflicts, coordinate mitigation measures and maintain environmental compliance as work progresses.

The C$9 million contract adds to Onterris’ portfolio of environmental services supporting major energy infrastructure developments across North America. The company views the award as part of its broader strategy of maintaining involvement across multiple stages of large-scale projects rather than limiting its services to individual development phases.

By supporting clients from early engineering and permitting through construction, reclamation and environmental management, Onterris aims to provide continuity and reduce the need to transition between different service providers as projects advance.

The company said this full-project-lifecycle approach can also strengthen long-term relationships with infrastructure developers and create opportunities for recurring revenue. For major energy projects, environmental requirements can extend over several years, creating demand for planning, monitoring, compliance, field services, data management and reclamation support.

For the Canadian natural gas transmission project, Onterris’ involvement will now continue through the construction period and interim reclamation activities. The company’s combination of environmental expertise, regulatory knowledge and digital capabilities is expected to support the infrastructure developer as it moves forward with construction of the C$3 billion system.

The project’s anticipated capacity of more than 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day highlights its potential importance to Canada’s energy infrastructure. At the same time, the environmental services being provided by Onterris are intended to help manage the ecological and regulatory considerations associated with developing and constructing large-scale transmission infrastructure.

The contract therefore represents both a significant commercial award for Onterris and an extension of an established client relationship. By remaining engaged from project development through construction and reclamation, the company is positioning itself as an integrated environmental services partner for major energy infrastructure programs across Canada and the wider North American market.
