Flowserve Corporation (NYSE: FLS), a leading provider of flow control products and services, and Heide Refinery, Germany’s northernmost crude oil refinery, have announced a partnership to implement Flowserve’s Energy Advantage Program, enhancing Heide Refinery’s energy efficiency.
The Energy Advantage Program uses a data-driven engineering evaluation process to optimize pump and valve power consumption with minimal disruption to existing processes. This approach aids customers like Heide in achieving carbon reduction goals and lowering total cost of ownership.
Heide Refinery is committed to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. Collaborating with Flowserve, Heide aims to capture additional energy savings. Flowserve’s initial assessment identified significant potential savings in Heide’s highest energy-consuming flow loops. Engineers introduced solutions to improve energy efficiency and performance, tailored to Heide’s existing processes. By following these recommendations, Heide Refinery is expected to annually reduce power consumption by over 2,000 Megawatt Hours (MWh).
“We are thrilled with the initial results,” said Roland Kühl, Heide Refinery’s Managing Director. “With Flowserve’s expertise, we can achieve meaningful savings and lower our carbon emissions by over 1,300 metric tons annually. We look forward to continuing this partnership to uncover more energy-saving opportunities.”
Scott Rowe, Flowserve’s President and CEO, added, “Our Energy Advantage Program is revolutionizing customers’ strategies to decarbonize operations. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to building a sustainable future.”
Following the pilot’s success, Flowserve and Heide Refinery plan to expand the program to optimize additional flow loops within the plant.
