Capstone Energy+ Appoints Brandon Schwertner to Board of Directors
Capstone Energy+, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEPL), a provider of gas turbine energy solutions for industrial and commercial customers, has appointed energy infrastructure executive Brandon Schwertner to its Board of Directors. The appointment became effective on October 26, 2026, as the company continues to pursue growth opportunities in data centers and other mission-critical energy markets.
Schwertner joins the board as an independent director designated by Monarch Alternative Capital LP under the terms of its strategic investment in Capstone, announced in March 2026. His appointment brings additional leadership experience in energy infrastructure, electricity markets, business expansion and institutional capital raising to the company’s governance structure.
With more than 20 years of energy industry leadership experience, Schwertner has served as chief executive officer of three companies. His background includes expanding energy infrastructure businesses, managing complex power market requirements and securing investment capital to support corporate growth. These capabilities align with Capstone’s strategy to strengthen its position in markets where reliable and continuous electricity supply is essential.
The company provides gas turbine-based energy solutions for industrial and commercial applications, including emerging data center and other mission-critical facilities. As electricity demand grows and businesses increasingly prioritize energy reliability, Capstone aims to capitalize on opportunities that require dependable power generation and resilient energy infrastructure.
Robert Powelson, Interim Chairman of Capstone Energy+, welcomed Schwertner to the board, highlighting the executive’s experience and leadership as valuable additions to the company’s governance and strategic planning.
Powelson said the board expects Schwertner to contribute to Capstone’s continued development and help advance its growth objectives. He emphasized the importance of strengthening financial performance, expanding the company’s business and creating sustainable, long-term shareholder value.
Schwertner also expressed confidence in Capstone’s market position and its ability to address growing demand for reliable power. He pointed to the company’s established technology platform and extensive global installed base as important advantages as energy requirements evolve across data centers and other critical applications.
According to Schwertner, businesses increasingly require greater certainty regarding their electricity supply, particularly as data centers and other energy-intensive facilities expand. He believes Capstone is positioned to benefit from these market conditions and pursue its next phase of development.
Schwertner said he looks forward to working with Vince, the company’s leadership team and fellow directors to translate these opportunities into sustainable and profitable growth. His comments underscore the importance of combining operational expertise, strategic leadership and financial discipline as Capstone develops its presence in high-growth energy markets.
Before joining Capstone’s board, Schwertner served as Chief Executive Officer of Priority Power Management from 2018 through 2026. During his tenure, he led significant business expansion, increasing the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) tenfold. He also raised more than $1 billion in equity capital and completed 15 strategic acquisitions.
These achievements supported Priority Power Management’s expansion across several energy infrastructure and services segments. Under Schwertner’s leadership, the business broadened its capabilities in energy procurement, microgrids, substations and large-load interconnection solutions.
These areas are increasingly relevant to energy-intensive customers seeking dependable electricity supplies and infrastructure capable of supporting growing power requirements. Microgrids, substations and interconnection services can play important roles in connecting large facilities to suitable power resources and improving energy resilience.
Schwertner’s experience at Priority Power Management provides a foundation for contributing to Capstone’s efforts to address the needs of customers operating in demanding energy environments. His background also includes experience in entrepreneurship, electricity trading and investment management.
Earlier in his career, Schwertner co-founded MP2 Energy, an energy business that was acquired by Shell Energy North America in 2017. The transaction marked a significant milestone in his career and added to his experience in building and developing businesses within the competitive energy sector.
He subsequently served as Managing Director and Head of U.S. Electricity Trading at Credit Suisse, where he gained experience in electricity markets and financial services. His work across energy operations and capital markets provides a combination of commercial and financial expertise relevant to Capstone’s strategic priorities.
Schwertner currently leads Schwertner Capital and serves on the Board of Directors of Budderfly. His professional achievements have also received industry recognition. In 2024, he was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipient for the Gulf Coast region and became a national finalist. He was also recognized as the Houston Business Journal’s CEO of the Year in 2022.
Robert Beard, Chair of Capstone’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, said Schwertner brings a combination of operational leadership, capital markets knowledge and practical experience addressing the challenges faced by large-load energy customers.
Beard noted that Schwertner’s appointment strengthens the board’s collective capabilities and provides additional insight as the company pursues opportunities in data centers and other mission-critical power markets.
The appointment comes as reliable electricity infrastructure becomes increasingly important for businesses operating facilities with substantial and continuous power requirements. Data centers, in particular, depend on dependable energy supplies to support computing infrastructure and maintain operations. These requirements create opportunities for energy technology providers offering solutions designed to address power availability and reliability challenges.
Capstone’s focus on gas turbine energy solutions positions the company to participate in this evolving market. The addition of an executive with experience in energy infrastructure development, acquisitions and capital formation may support the company’s efforts to evaluate growth opportunities and strengthen its commercial strategy.
Alongside Schwertner’s appointment, Capstone announced that Ping Fu stepped down from its Board of Directors, effective October 26, 2026. Following the changes, the board will continue to comprise seven directors.
Powelson thanked Fu for her service and contributions to the company. He acknowledged her leadership and commitment during an important period in Capstone’s development and wished her success in her future endeavors.
The board changes represent a governance update as Capstone continues to focus on business expansion, financial performance and opportunities across the energy infrastructure sector.
Schwertner’s appointment brings additional executive experience to the company’s leadership oversight at a time when demand for dependable power solutions is attracting greater attention from industrial customers, commercial businesses and data center operators. His background in scaling businesses, securing capital and developing energy infrastructure capabilities is expected to provide relevant perspectives as Capstone advances its strategy.
With its existing technology platform, global installed base and focus on mission-critical applications, Capstone aims to strengthen its position in markets where reliable energy supply is a central operational requirement. The company will continue pursuing its growth objectives while emphasizing profitability and long-term shareholder value.
