Mobius Renewables Expands Global RNG Platform with Acquisition of Air Liquide Biogas Assets
Mobius Renewables has officially completed the acquisition of biogas production activities from Air Liquide across key international markets, including the United States, France, Norway, and Sweden. The transaction represents a major step forward in building a globally integrated renewable natural gas (RNG) platform and marks a defining milestone in the company’s strategic growth journey. With the deal now closed, Mobius Renewables significantly strengthens its operational footprint, expands its production capacity, and enhances its position in the rapidly growing low-carbon fuels sector.
The acquisition brings together a diversified portfolio of biogas assets spanning multiple geographies and feedstocks. In the United States, the deal includes six fully operational landfill gas-to-RNG facilities, which convert methane emissions from landfill sites into usable renewable energy. These facilities are particularly important in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as landfill methane is a potent contributor to climate change if released untreated into the atmosphere. By capturing and upgrading this gas into RNG, the facilities support both environmental sustainability and energy production goals.
In France, the acquisition includes five operational farm-based anaerobic digestion facilities. These sites process agricultural waste, including manure and organic residues, into renewable biogas, which is then refined into RNG suitable for injection into natural gas grids or for use as a transportation fuel. The inclusion of agricultural waste-to-energy operations adds diversity to Mobius Renewables’ portfolio and highlights the company’s commitment to leveraging multiple feedstock streams to scale production.
The transaction also includes a 51% ownership stake in Redo Biosolutions, a company with production and distribution assets across Norway and Sweden. Redo Biosolutions plays a key role in the Nordic renewable energy market, where demand for sustainable fuel alternatives continues to grow rapidly. By acquiring a controlling interest, Mobius Renewables gains access to established infrastructure, regional expertise, and an existing customer base in Northern Europe. Importantly, the Redo Biosolutions brand and strategic direction will remain intact, ensuring continuity while benefiting from the broader resources and capabilities of Mobius Renewables.
This acquisition is a cornerstone development for Mobius Renewables, a company established in December 2025 by funds managed by IFM Investors. The company was created with a clear mandate: to accelerate the development, production, distribution, and commercialization of renewable natural gas at scale across North America and Europe. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Mobius Renewables operates with a global perspective, supported by regional offices in the United States, France, Norway, and Sweden.
With the integration of these newly acquired assets, Mobius Renewables now generates and distributes more than 5.5 million MMBtu of RNG annually. This level of production places the company among the emerging leaders in the global RNG market, which is experiencing strong growth due to increasing regulatory support, corporate decarbonization commitments, and rising demand for low-carbon energy solutions. RNG is widely recognized as a critical component in the transition to cleaner energy systems, particularly in sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as heavy-duty transportation, industrial processes, and heating.
The completion of this transaction also marks the full establishment of Mobius Renewables as a unified platform. The company will integrate GreenGasUSA and the newly acquired assets under a single brand, creating a cohesive identity and operational framework. This consolidation is expected to enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and improve collaboration across regions. By bringing together diverse teams, technologies, and expertise, Mobius Renewables aims to set a new benchmark for scale, reliability, and partnership within the RNG industry.
Strategically, the acquisition reinforces IFM Investors’ long-term commitment to the low-carbon fuels sector. As a global infrastructure investment manager, IFM has been increasingly focused on supporting energy transition initiatives that deliver both financial returns and environmental benefits. The investment in Mobius Renewables reflects this dual objective, combining infrastructure development with sustainability outcomes. The company plans to pursue a disciplined growth strategy that balances organic project development with targeted acquisitions, ensuring steady expansion while maintaining operational excellence.
Leadership at Mobius Renewables has emphasized the importance of people and partnerships in driving the company’s success. Cynthia Walker, President and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the significance of integrating new teams from across multiple countries into a unified organization. She noted that the combined expertise, capital resources, and strategic vision position the company to unlock new opportunities and deliver value to stakeholders.
Looking ahead, Mobius Renewables is expected to focus on optimizing the performance of its existing assets while investing in new projects that expand its production capacity. The company is also likely to explore additional partnerships with municipalities, agricultural producers, and industrial players to secure feedstock supply and develop new RNG facilities. These efforts will be supported by a strong emphasis on innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
The broader context for this acquisition is a rapidly evolving energy landscape in which renewable natural gas is gaining prominence. Governments across North America and Europe are implementing policies to reduce carbon emissions, including incentives for renewable fuels and stricter regulations on methane emissions. At the same time, corporations are increasingly seeking low-carbon energy solutions to meet their sustainability targets. RNG offers a practical and scalable option, particularly because it can be integrated into existing natural gas infrastructure with minimal modifications.
By expanding its footprint across key markets and diversifying its asset base, Mobius Renewables is well positioned to capitalize on these trends. The company’s vertically integrated model—encompassing production, distribution, and commercialization—provides a competitive advantage in a market where scale and reliability are critical. This integrated approach enables Mobius Renewables to deliver consistent supply, manage costs effectively, and respond to changing market conditions.
