A Facility Designed to Convert Waste Into Renewable Power

The facility will be equipped with high-efficiency digesters and combined heat and power (CHP) systems—key components of Anaergia’s integrated technology suite. As organic materials break down inside the digesters, they generate biogas that can be upgraded and used to fuel electricity generation equipment. The CHP system is engineered to maximize energy efficiency, producing both electricity and thermal energy from the biogas stream.

This renewable electricity will be used to support the operations of the East County Advanced Water Purification Program, a multi-agency initiative aimed at creating a new, sustainable source of drinking water for the region. By generating clean power on-site, the system will reduce reliance on California’s increasingly strained electric grid and buffer the facility from fluctuating wholesale electricity prices.
