Xpansiv and Verdane Partner to Drive Acquisitions and Product Growth

Xpansiv and Verdane Partner to Accelerate Acquisitions and Product Expansion

Xpansiv, a global infrastructure provider for energy transition markets, and Verdane, a European growth investment firm, have announced a strategic partnership under which Verdane is leading a major capital raise for Xpansiv. The investment is intended to support Xpansiv’s acquisition strategy and accelerate the company’s expansion into new products, asset classes and geographic markets.

The partnership comes as global energy and environmental markets continue to evolve, driven by increasing demand for renewable energy, emissions management, clean fuels and transparent environmental commodity markets. Xpansiv operates infrastructure designed to support these markets, providing registries, marketplaces and data services used by corporations, utilities and traders around the world.

Through its platform, Xpansiv connects market participants with clean power products, renewable energy certificates (RECs), verified carbon credits and clean fuel credits. The company processes transfers involving hundreds of millions of environmental assets each year, providing infrastructure intended to facilitate the issuance, tracking, transfer and management of commodities associated with the global energy transition.

Xpansiv is also incorporating artificial intelligence into its market infrastructure. Its AI-enabled capabilities are designed to accelerate verification processes, improve auditability and reduce administrative costs associated with managing energy and environmental commodities. As organizations face increasingly complex reporting and compliance requirements, the company expects demand for technology capable of supporting transparent and efficient environmental markets to continue growing.

Melanie Campbell, Principal at Verdane, said Xpansiv has established an important position within the infrastructure supporting global energy transition markets. She noted that the company’s role could become increasingly significant as reporting and compliance obligations expand across international markets.

According to Campbell, infrastructure platforms of this scale require significant time and resources to develop. Verdane’s investment is therefore intended to help Xpansiv expand its existing platform and respond to growing demand from market participants.

“Xpansiv operates the market infrastructure for the global energy transition, and that position strengthens as reporting and compliance obligations widen,” Campbell said. “Infrastructure of this kind takes years to build, and no one else has assembled it end to end. We look forward to partnering with Xpansiv and helping it scale to meet growing global demand for its platform.”

For Xpansiv, the partnership is expected to provide additional resources to pursue acquisitions and complement the company’s internally developed technology. The strategy is focused on expanding the range of solutions available to customers while strengthening the company’s presence across international energy transition markets.

John Melby, CEO of Xpansiv, said Verdane’s experience scaling technology platforms internationally will support the company’s next phase of growth. The investment is expected to allow Xpansiv to accelerate its acquisition strategy and bring additional technologies and capabilities into its platform.

“Verdane understands what it takes to scale a technology platform internationally,” Melby said. “This partnership enables us to move faster on acquiring next-generation solutions to complement our internal innovation, expanding the breadth and depth of what we can offer customers globally.”

Xpansiv’s existing infrastructure includes proprietary registries that support more than 320 gigawatts of renewable generation capacity across more than 60 countries. The company said its registry network represents approximately 4% of total global electricity generation and 7% of renewable energy generation.

The scale of its renewable energy certificate infrastructure is also significant. Approximately 28% of RECs issued globally in 2025 were managed through Xpansiv’s registry network, highlighting the company’s role in supporting the tracking and transfer of renewable electricity attributes.

RECs are used by organizations and other market participants to document renewable electricity generation and consumption. As corporations increasingly seek to meet renewable energy and sustainability objectives, the infrastructure supporting the creation, certification and transfer of these instruments has become an important component of energy markets.

The partnership with Verdane builds on several years of acquisitions by Xpansiv. Over the past four years, the company has expanded its capabilities through the acquisitions of APX, Evolution Markets and Evident.

APX is a global provider of energy and environmental registry infrastructure. Its capabilities complement Xpansiv’s work in tracking and managing environmental commodities and renewable energy attributes.

Xpansiv also acquired Evolution Markets, a market execution services provider serving energy and environmental markets. The acquisition added market execution capabilities to Xpansiv’s broader infrastructure platform and expanded the services available to participants operating across these markets.

The company’s acquisition of Evident further expanded its international registry capabilities. The UK-based company is an innovator and operator of the I-REC(E) registry, supporting the international tracking of renewable electricity attributes.

Together, these acquisitions have contributed to Xpansiv’s strategy of building a broader infrastructure platform covering registries, marketplaces, market services and data. The new capital raise led by Verdane is expected to extend that strategy as the energy and environmental commodity infrastructure sector continues to develop.

The investment also reflects a broader shift in energy markets toward digital infrastructure capable of supporting increasingly complex environmental attributes and compliance requirements. As businesses, utilities and traders participate in multiple clean energy and environmental markets, platforms that can provide reliable registries, verification, data and transaction capabilities are becoming increasingly important.

Xpansiv said the new partnership will enable it to continue investing in both organic innovation and acquisitions. By combining its existing infrastructure with newly acquired technologies and capabilities, the company aims to broaden its product offering and serve customers across additional asset classes and geographies.

The strategic partnership with Verdane therefore represents another step in Xpansiv’s expansion of its energy transition market infrastructure. With additional capital available for acquisitions and product development, the company is positioned to continue building its international platform for renewable energy, carbon, clean fuels and other environmental commodities.
