Tigo Energy Gains Approval for Three-Phase EI in Slovakia

Tigo Energy’s Three-Phase EI Residential Solution Approved for Deployment in Slovakia, Reinforcing Commitment to Smart Solar and Energy Storage Innovation

Tigo Energy, Inc. (“Tigo” or the “Company”), a global leader in intelligent solar and energy software solutions, today announced a major milestone in its European growth strategy. The Company’s three-phase Tigo EI Residential solution has successfully completed mandatory compliance testing in partnership with Východoslovenská distribučná, a.s. (VSD), one of Slovakia’s primary electricity distribution system operators. This achievement clears the way for widespread deployment of Tigo’s solution in the Slovak residential market and demonstrates the Company’s commitment to aligning with local grid standards and advancing safe, efficient, and intelligent solar energy technologies.

The certification confirms that the Tigo EI Residential Three-Phase Inverters are fully compatible with Slovak grid requirements, making them ready for nationwide deployment. For Tigo, this development not only expands its footprint in Central Europe but also reflects the Company’s broader mission to deliver solutions that combine performance optimization, safety, and energy independence for homeowners.

Meeting Slovak Regulatory Standards

As part of the certification process, the Tigo EI Residential Three-Phase Inverters – including models TSI-6K3D, TSI-10K3D, and TSI-15K3D – were tested rigorously to ensure compliance with Slovak energy regulations. These units demonstrated their ability to safely disconnect from the grid during voltage loss events, a critical requirement that prevents unintended power feed-in and enhances overall grid stability.

The devices were certified under Act No. 251/2012 on Energy and Decree No. 275/2012 on the quality of electricity distribution. Meeting these standards ensures that the Tigo EI Residential solution integrates seamlessly into Slovakia’s energy infrastructure, providing both safety and reliability for homeowners and installers.

When paired with the Tigo EI Battery, which offers intelligent energy management and multiple operating modes, the system delivers advanced flexibility. Homeowners benefit from enhanced self-consumption, improved visibility into their energy use, and robust backup capabilities. This integration of hardware and software underscores Tigo’s approach of delivering not just a product, but a holistic, future-ready energy ecosystem.

A Complete Energy Solution

According to Miroslav Urban, CEO of CMS-turnkey, one of the region’s leading PV installation firms, the Tigo EI Residential solution is far more than a battery or inverter.

“The Tigo EI Residential solution is more than a storage system, rather it’s a complete energy solution that streamlines our work and delivers tangible value, including the smart and simple integration of performance optimization and key safety functions. Installation and commissioning are fast and intuitive thanks to its compact, all-in-one design. The backup system delivers resilience, allowing multiple home loads to remain active even when the grid fails. For PV installers, it’s a smart, time-saving solution, while homeowners get a smarter energy system with advanced monitoring and full control via the Tigo app.”

Urban’s remarks highlight a crucial differentiator: the solution is designed not only for end users but also to simplify the work of installers and PV system designers. By integrating performance optimization, monitoring, and safety functions in one streamlined platform, Tigo reduces installation time and complexity while improving system reliability.

Growth of Residential Solar in Slovakia

Slovakia has been experiencing rapid growth in the residential solar sector, driven by both policy support and rising consumer demand for energy independence. In 2024 alone, residential solar installations accounted for approximately 43% of total solar market growth, with an estimated 120 MW of rooftop solar capacity deployed nationwide.

Among these systems, more than 4 MW were equipped with Tigo’s Module-Level Power Electronics (MLPE) solutions. The adoption of MLPE technologies signals a shift toward advanced system monitoring and optimization, reflecting broader European trends in intelligent energy management. With Slovak homeowners increasingly prioritizing resilience, efficiency, and control, the introduction of the Tigo EI Residential solution arrives at a pivotal moment for the market.

Empowering Homeowners Through Intelligent Energy

For Jing Tian, Chief Growth and Revenue Officer at Tigo Energy, the certification in Slovakia represents more than a regulatory milestone; it symbolizes a leap toward empowering homeowners with smart energy tools.

“Installers like CMS-turnkey call for solutions that empower homeowners to take full control of their energy,” said Tian. “The Tigo EI Residential solution is now fully compatible with the Slovak grid, enabling higher self-consumption, increased energy independence, and greater system efficiency. By optimizing how solar energy is produced, stored, and used in the home, we help turn every kilowatt-hour into an asset. At Tigo, we believe that smart energy choices are the foundation of a more resilient and sustainable future.”

Tigo’s Energy Intelligence platform further reinforces this vision. Through a user-friendly app, homeowners gain real-time insights into system performance, energy generation, consumption, and storage. This level of transparency and control transforms solar energy from a passive resource into an actively managed household asset.

Proven Reliability in Real-World Conditions

Beyond certification, the Tigo EI Residential solution has already demonstrated resilience under real-world stress. During a widespread blackout in June 2025 in the Czech Republic, the system ensured the uninterrupted operation of critical household loads, proving its capacity to deliver reliable backup power during grid disruptions.

Available with a full backup system capable of powering multiple household loads simultaneously, the Tigo EI Residential solution offers a safeguard against energy insecurity. By maintaining critical functions such as lighting, refrigeration, and internet connectivity during outages, the system enhances both safety and quality of life.

Expanding the Energy Ecosystem

The Tigo EI Residential solution is designed to scale with evolving household needs. It integrates seamlessly with the TS4 Flex MLPE platform, enabling module-level optimization and safety features. In addition, it can be paired with accessories such as the Tigo GO EV Charger and GO Junction, allowing homeowners to expand their energy ecosystem into areas such as electric mobility and smart heating applications.

All of these elements are coordinated through the Energy Intelligence app, providing a single point of control for managing energy production, consumption, and storage. This interoperability positions Tigo as a key enabler of the energy transition, helping households move beyond simple solar generation toward fully integrated smart energy systems.
