Tigo Energy and Ingeteam Sign Compatibility Certificate

Tigo Energy and Ingeteam Expand Solar Inverter Compatibility Through New Certification

Tigo Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: TYGO), a provider of intelligent solar and energy solutions, has announced a new Certificate of Compatibility with Ingeteam S.A., a European energy technology company focused on electrification, decarbonization, and sustainable energy systems. The certification confirms compatibility between selected Ingeteam inverters and Tigo Flex Module-Level Power Electronics (MLPE) products following successful compatibility testing.

The certification covers selected single-phase and three-phase INGECON® SUN inverter models and several products within the Tigo TS4 MLPE portfolio. When properly designed, configured, and installed, the certified combinations are intended to provide solar installers and system owners with greater flexibility when developing photovoltaic systems for residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), and utility applications.

The collaboration reflects growing demand for solar systems that can combine equipment from different technology providers while maintaining system performance, reliability, and functionality. By validating the interaction between specific Ingeteam inverter platforms and Tigo MLPE devices, the companies aim to make it easier for installers and system designers to select equipment that meets the technical requirements of individual projects.

The Certificate of Compatibility includes ten INGECON® SUN inverter models. It also covers several Tigo TS4 devices, including the TS4-A-O, TS4-A-S, TS4-A-F, TS4-A-2F, TS4-X-O, TS4-X-S, and TS4-X-F. These products provide different module-level capabilities and are designed to support a range of solar system requirements.

Tigo’s TS4 platform is part of its broader MLPE offering, allowing solar systems to incorporate module-level functionality into PV installations. Depending on the selected device and system configuration, MLPE technology can support functions such as module-level optimization, monitoring, rapid shutdown, and other system-management capabilities. Compatibility testing between the MLPE equipment and inverter is therefore an important consideration when designing systems that rely on multiple equipment platforms.

For Ingeteam, the certification represents another step in expanding its solar technology offering and providing customers with additional equipment choices. The company operates across multiple international markets and has developed a broad portfolio of technologies supporting the global energy transition.

Ingeteam has a presence in 15 countries and has approximately 25 years of experience in the energy technology sector. The company has installed around 36 GW of inverter capacity worldwide. Its global workforce numbers approximately 3,800 employees, with more than 500 people involved in research and development. The company says its investment in R&D represents more than 13% of its total workforce, highlighting the importance of technological development to its business.

Paolo Cigognetti, Sales Italian Director Solar PV, BESS & H2 at Ingeteam, said solar energy remains an important part of the company’s wider energy technology portfolio. He described the compatibility certification with Tigo as a milestone in the company’s efforts to provide optimized and high-quality solutions to customers, particularly those in residential and C&I markets.

Cigognetti also emphasized technological innovation as an important factor behind Ingeteam’s growth and development. The company expects the compatibility between its inverter products and Tigo’s MLPE solutions to benefit customers that use the two technology platforms.

The announcement comes as solar power continues to expand its role in global electricity generation. The rapid deployment of renewable generation is increasing the need for technologies that can improve the performance, monitoring, safety, and management of distributed solar installations.

Recent global electricity data highlighted the scale of this transition. Renewable energy sources accounted for 33.8% of global electricity generation in 2025, according to analysis cited by the companies. Renewables also overtook coal in global electricity generation for the first time in the modern era, underlining the growing importance of wind, solar, hydro, and other renewable technologies in the global power mix.

Europe has been another major market for renewable energy deployment. In the European Union, wind and solar generation reportedly surpassed fossil-fuel generation in 2025 for the first time. The shift is creating new opportunities for solar technology providers while also increasing the importance of system integration, reliability, and equipment interoperability.

As solar installations become more sophisticated, project developers and installers increasingly need the ability to combine technologies from multiple suppliers. An open technology ecosystem can allow system designers to select components according to project requirements rather than being limited to a single equipment platform.

Certified compatibility can help address some of the technical uncertainty associated with combining products from different manufacturers. Testing provides evidence that specified inverter and MLPE combinations can operate together under the conditions evaluated by the manufacturers. For installers, this can provide additional confidence during system design and equipment selection.

Gal Bauer, senior director of validation, customer success and product management at Tigo, said the company believes an open technology ecosystem is important to the continued growth of the solar industry. According to Bauer, giving solar installation companies and system designers greater freedom to assemble appropriate component combinations can help support the industry’s expansion.

Bauer also welcomed Ingeteam into Tigo’s compatibility ecosystem, noting that the certification and underlying testing demonstrate the companies’ focus on product quality and performance. He added that the international sales and support capabilities of both organizations create opportunities for the certified product combinations across multiple markets.

The compatibility certification may be particularly relevant as distributed solar expands beyond traditional residential applications. Commercial and industrial customers are increasingly deploying onsite solar systems to reduce electricity costs, improve energy resilience, and support sustainability targets. These larger systems can require more advanced monitoring, optimization, and safety capabilities, making equipment compatibility an important part of system planning.

Residential solar customers can similarly benefit from system architectures that provide greater visibility into individual modules and allow installers to address site-specific conditions. Module-level technologies can be useful in installations where roof orientation, shading, module mismatch, or other site characteristics affect system performance.

The certification also comes as solar developers and installers place greater emphasis on long-term system reliability. As PV systems are expected to operate for decades, equipment selection and interoperability can influence maintenance requirements, system monitoring, and overall operational performance.

Tigo and Ingeteam are continuing their collaboration through a joint educational webinar titled “Building Smarter Solar Systems Through Open Compatibility.” The event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, from 16:00 to 17:00 CEST.

The webinar will provide an opportunity for solar professionals to learn more about the companies’ approach to equipment compatibility and the certified combination of Ingeteam inverter technologies with Tigo MLPE products. Participants will also be able to gain additional insight into how open compatibility can influence solar system design and equipment selection.

The new certification ultimately highlights the growing importance of interoperability within the solar technology market. As deployment accelerates across residential, C&I, and utility-scale segments, installers and developers are seeking solutions that combine performance, flexibility, monitoring, safety, and reliability.

By validating selected combinations of INGECON® SUN inverters and Tigo TS4 MLPE products, Ingeteam and Tigo are expanding the range of certified technology options available to solar professionals. The companies believe that collaboration between equipment manufacturers can support more flexible system designs while helping customers deploy increasingly intelligent and efficient solar energy systems.
