SCE to Host Sept. 10 Eaton Fire Recovery Meeting
Southern California Edison is continuing its efforts to support communities affected by the Eaton Fire, announcing a new community meeting designed to provide residents, property owners and other eligible claimants with information about recovery options and the company’s Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program.
The meeting, scheduled for Sept. 10 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, will bring together Southern California Edison leaders, program specialists and individuals who have already participated in the compensation process. The event is intended to give community members an opportunity to ask questions, hear directly from people who have received compensation and obtain information that may help them make decisions about rebuilding and moving forward following the devastating fire.
SCE said the community engagement session is part of its broader commitment to maintaining communication with people directly affected by the Eaton Fire and ensuring that eligible individuals understand the options available to them. The company has established the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program to provide a process through which eligible claimants can submit claims and evaluate potential compensation without giving up their legal rights simply by participating in the program or reviewing an offer.
The Sept. 10 event will feature a panel discussion with participants who have completed portions of the compensation process and received payments. Their experiences are expected to provide attendees with practical perspectives on submitting claims, reviewing offers and navigating the recovery process.
In addition to the panel, SCE experts will be available to answer questions related to the program and discuss issues affecting individual claimants. The company said attendees will also be able to seek information related to their particular rebuilding and recovery circumstances.
“One of the most effective ways to understand the program is to hear directly from people who have gone through it,” said Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, SCE’s parent company.
“These conversations give community members an opportunity to ask questions, learn from others’ experiences and connect to resources that support their recovery,” Pizarro said.
The announcement comes as the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program continues to process thousands of claims from individuals, trusts, businesses and other legal entities affected by the Eaton Fire.
As of Aug. 28, 2026, more than 4,450 claims had been submitted through the program. Those claims represented more than 13,600 individuals, trusts and legal entities. According to SCE, approximately 39% of submitted claims were filed by attorneys or other authorized representatives on behalf of claimants.
The program has extended more than 2,500 offers to nearly 6,300 claimants, representing total offers of more than $860 million. More than 3,100 claimants had received payments totaling over $460 million as of the same date, with additional claims and payments continuing to move through the process.
SCE said the figures demonstrate the scale of recovery activity underway as affected community members evaluate their individual circumstances and determine how compensation may support their next steps.
Community Meeting Planned for Sept. 10
The community meeting will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena.
The company said refreshments will be provided during the event, and Spanish translation services will be available to help make the meeting accessible to more members of the affected community.
Attendees will be able to register for the meeting and submit questions in advance. Providing questions before the event may help company representatives and program specialists prepare information on topics of particular interest to the community.
The meeting is expected to focus not only on explaining how the compensation program operates but also on providing a forum for direct engagement. Residents and other eligible claimants may have different circumstances depending on whether they owned or rented property, suffered damage to multiple properties or experienced other fire-related losses.
By including individuals who have already participated in the program, SCE aims to provide community members with firsthand perspectives alongside information from company representatives.
Focus on Speed and the Claims Process
SCE said the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program was designed with fairness, speed and claimant satisfaction as important objectives.
According to the company, offers are being delivered in an average of 36 days. This is significantly within SCE’s stated commitment to provide an offer within 90 days after the submission of a substantially complete claim.
The company emphasized that submitting a claim through the program does not require a claimant to waive their rights. Similarly, receiving and reviewing an offer does not itself waive a claimant’s rights.
That structure is intended to allow eligible individuals to explore the compensation available through the program before deciding what course of action is appropriate for their individual circumstances.
SCE reported that more than 77% of offers made through the program have been accepted, while additional offers remain under consideration. Less than 2% of offers have been declined, according to the company.
Once the conditions outlined in a settlement agreement have been satisfied, payments are made within 30 days. SCE said many participants have received their payments in as little as two to three weeks.
The amounts paid through the program vary substantially based on individual circumstances and the nature and extent of losses. SCE said payments have ranged from $15.1 million for a claimant with multiple properties to $15,000 for a tenant with non-burn damage.
The variation reflects the different situations represented among claimants and the range of property and other losses associated with the Eaton Fire.
Survey results have also provided an indication of participant views on the program. Based on feedback from more than 150 participants, SCE said 82% reported a favorable opinion of the compensation program.
While individual recovery experiences can differ, the company said it continues to use community meetings and direct assistance to provide claimants with opportunities to obtain information and support throughout the process.
Claim Deadline Approaches
SCE is encouraging eligible community members who have not yet participated in the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program to consider submitting a claim before the Nov. 30, 2026 deadline.
With three months remaining as of the company’s announcement, eligible individuals have been encouraged to review the available compensation options before making longer-term decisions about their recovery.
Submitting a claim allows an eligible claimant to explore the compensation process and receive information about potential options. SCE has stressed that participation and evaluation of an offer do not automatically require claimants to surrender their rights.
Detailed guidance on submitting a claim is available in both English and Spanish through the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program.
The company also provides one-on-one assistance in multiple languages through its support line. Claimants can call 888-912-8528 for help understanding program requirements and beginning the claims process.
In-person appointments are also available for individuals who would prefer direct assistance. These appointments can help claimants understand the documentation and other requirements associated with submitting a substantially complete claim.
SCE has additionally established a bulk intake process for law firms and other firms representing multiple eligible claimants. The process is intended to streamline the submission of claims where an attorney or authorized representative is working on behalf of numerous individuals.
Continued Community Engagement
The upcoming Pasadena meeting reflects SCE’s continued emphasis on direct engagement as the Eaton Fire recovery process develops.
For many people affected by a major wildfire, recovery involves a series of decisions concerning housing, rebuilding, finances and other personal or business matters. Access to information about available resources and compensation options can play an important role as individuals evaluate those decisions.
SCE’s meeting will provide a setting in which attendees can hear both from company experts and from fellow community members who have already interacted with the compensation program.
The inclusion of program participants is intended to add practical experience to the discussion, allowing attendees to hear how others approached the process and what they encountered while pursuing compensation.
The company said it remains focused on helping eligible community members understand their options and access available resources as recovery continues.
With thousands of claims already submitted and hundreds of millions of dollars in payments made, the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program remains a significant part of SCE’s ongoing response to the Eaton Fire.
The Sept. 10 community meeting is expected to provide another opportunity for affected individuals to engage directly with the company, obtain answers to questions and learn more about the process from people with firsthand experience.
Eligible community members who have not yet submitted a claim have until Nov. 30, 2026, to do so. SCE is encouraging those who may qualify to review the program and explore the options available to them as they continue their recovery journey.
