EDF Renewables and Omaha Public Power District Partner on Milligan 1 Wind Project

EDF Renewables North America has signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) for the 300-megawatt Milligan 1 Wind project in Nebraska, operational since 2021. This partnership supports OPPD’s goals of doubling its generation capacity by 2030 and reaching net-zero carbon by 2050. John Shultzabarger, Senior Director of Power Marketing at EDF Renewables, emphasized the project’s role in meeting rising electricity demand while promoting sustainable energy solutions.

OPPD President and CEO, Javier Fernandez, highlighted the importance of Milligan 1 in expanding and diversifying OPPD’s energy portfolio. He noted that OPPD aims to add 3,200 MW of generation by the end of the decade, with half of that capacity coming from renewable sources.

EDF Renewables, a leading renewable energy developer in North America with over 35 years of experience, has developed 18 gigawatts (GW) of wind, solar, and storage projects.
