Dow Jones Names Sarah Cottle Executive Vice President and General Manager of Dow Jones Energy
Dow Jones today announced the appointment of Sarah Cottle as executive vice president and general manager of Dow Jones Energy, a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s expanding suite of news, data, and analytical services for the energy, chemical, and environmental commodity sectors. In her new position, Cottle will lead a diverse portfolio of market-leading products, including OPIS, a Dow Jones company; Chemical Market Analytics; PetroChem Wire; McCloskey; A2i Systems; and Eco-Movement. She officially joins the company immediately and will report directly to Almar Latour, CEO of Dow Jones and publisher of The Wall Street Journal.

Cottle brings extensive industry experience to Dow Jones, having built a distinguished career in both journalism and data-driven market intelligence. Prior to joining Dow Jones, she held senior leadership positions at S&P Global, most recently serving as General Manager and Senior Vice President, Global Head of Data and Insights for the S&P Global Market Intelligence business. In this capacity, she was responsible for driving the development of data, analytics, and insight solutions that empowered clients to make informed business and investment decisions in a rapidly evolving global economy.
Before her role at Market Intelligence, Cottle spent eight years at S&P Global Platts, where she helped clients navigate complex energy and commodity markets. During her tenure, she led efforts to scale the company’s news, data, analytics, and advisory services, while also overseeing events that brought together market leaders to discuss trends, risks, and opportunities in the energy sector. Her work at Platts demonstrated her ability to combine deep industry expertise with strategic business development, ensuring clients received actionable insights at every stage of their decision-making process.
Cottle’s career also includes leadership roles in editorial operations at ICIS, a global market intelligence provider, as well as Bloomberg and CNBC. Her journalism career began at Dow Jones in Singapore, where she worked as a markets reporter covering commodities across the Asia-Pacific region. This international reporting experience provided her with an in-depth understanding of how regional and global energy trends intersect, and how geopolitical, technological, and environmental factors shape market dynamics.
