Complementing the logging services is the RCX MAGNA large-area multi-probe sampling system, which is engineered to improve fluid characterization. Understanding the composition and properties of reservoir fluids is essential for designing efficient production strategies and optimizing hydrocarbon recovery. Enhanced fluid sampling enables engineers to develop more accurate reservoir models and better estimate production potential.

The agreements also include deployment of DeepConnect reservoir-driven perforating charges. These advanced perforating systems are designed to create optimized connections between the wellbore and the surrounding reservoir, improving the flow of hydrocarbons into the well. More precise perforation techniques contribute to higher production rates, improved well productivity, and longer-term operational efficiency.

Together, these integrated technologies provide ONGC with high-fidelity reservoir evaluation, precise fluid analysis, and optimized completion solutions that support improved production performance across a wide range of operating environments.

The contracts cover both mature producing assets and greenfield developments, reflecting ONGC’s balanced strategy of maximizing output from existing fields while continuing exploration and development of new hydrocarbon resources.

For mature producing fields, the advanced wireline services will help identify bypassed reserves, improve reservoir management, and enhance recovery rates. Mature reservoirs often require increasingly sophisticated technologies to maintain production levels as natural reservoir pressure declines. Detailed formation evaluation and optimized well interventions can significantly extend field life while improving economic returns.

In newly developed or greenfield projects, advanced wireline data enables operators to make more accurate decisions during the early stages of field development. Better reservoir understanding supports optimized drilling programs, reduces exploration risk, and accelerates the transition from discovery to commercial production.

Commenting on the expanded collaboration, Amerino Gatti, Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes, highlighted the strong relationship between the two organizations and their shared commitment to India’s energy sector.

According to Gatti, Baker Hughes and ONGC have collaborated for more than two decades, contributing significantly to the development of India’s hydrocarbon resources. He noted that the latest agreements build upon that successful partnership by bringing advanced wireline technologies to both mature producing assets and new exploration projects. These solutions are expected to improve operational efficiency, maximize resource recovery, and contribute to strengthening India’s long-term energy security.

Offshore operations represent a major component of the new contracts. Baker Hughes will provide wireline services supporting more than 30 shallow-water exploration and development drilling rigs operating across several of India’s most productive offshore oil and gas regions.

Among the offshore assets included in the program are the Neelam Heera fields, Mumbai High North, Mumbai High South, Bassein Satellite, and the Tapti Daman fields. These offshore producing regions have played a vital role in India’s domestic oil and natural gas production for decades and continue to represent important contributors to the country’s energy supply.

The deployment of advanced wireline technologies across these offshore fields is expected to improve drilling efficiency, enhance reservoir understanding, and support better production optimization throughout the development lifecycle.

In addition to shallow-water operations, Baker Hughes will support deepwater exploration campaigns in several emerging offshore basins, including the Mahanadi Basin, Andaman Basin, Cauvery Basin, and Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin.

These frontier exploration areas present significant opportunities for future hydrocarbon discoveries but also involve greater geological complexity and higher operational challenges. Advanced formation evaluation technologies are particularly valuable in deepwater environments, where accurate subsurface information can substantially reduce exploration risk and improve drilling outcomes.

The company’s expertise in deepwater wireline services will help ONGC gather critical geological and reservoir data needed to evaluate exploration prospects and guide future development decisions.

Onshore operations also form an important part of the agreements. Baker Hughes will deploy wireline units across several mature producing basins, including the Bengal Basin, Krishna-Godavari Basin, and Assam-Arakan Basin.

These onshore regions continue to produce significant volumes of oil and natural gas while offering opportunities for additional discoveries and enhanced recovery. Advanced wireline technologies will support exploration drilling, development wells, reservoir monitoring, and production optimization activities across these assets.

The extensive geographic scope of the contracts demonstrates Baker Hughes’ ability to support large-scale operations across diverse geological environments, ranging from mature onshore basins to complex offshore and deepwater exploration projects.

A key advantage supporting the implementation of these projects is Baker Hughes’ well-established operational infrastructure within India.
