AESC Ranks 4th in 2024 Global Energy Storage Shipments
AESC, a Japan-based global leader in high-performance battery technology, has secured a strong foothold in the global energy storage industry. The company’s recognition in the 2024 Non-China Markets’ Energy Storage Cell Shipment Ranking by InfoLink Consulting, a leading research and consulting firm specializing in renewables and technology, underscores its growing influence in the sector. The ranking evaluates utility-scale, commercial & industry, and residential applications, placing AESC among the top four global players.
Shoichi Matsumoto, CEO of AESC Group, attributes the company’s rise to its market-leading energy storage technology, extensive global delivery experience, and swift production capacity expansion. AESC’s partnerships with key energy storage system integrators, including Fluence, Powin, and Nidec, have contributed significantly to its rapid growth in the industry. “Our strategic collaborations have strengthened our position as one of the fastest-growing energy storage companies globally,” Matsumoto emphasized.
Growth in Global Energy Storage Shipments
According to InfoLink, global energy storage cell shipments surged by 60% Year-over-Year (YoY) to reach 314.7 GWh in 2024. A notable trend in this growth has been the increasing adoption of 300+Ah cells, which accounted for nearly 50% of the global utility-scale energy storage market in a single quarter. AESC has played a pivotal role in this shift, advancing the development, mass production, and delivery of 300+Ah energy storage cells.
By the beginning of 2024, AESC had delivered over 30 GWh of 300+Ah energy storage cells, setting new benchmarks in market share, performance quality, and safety standards. The company’s ability to scale production efficiently while maintaining high product quality has been instrumental in its market expansion.
Strategic Expansion and Capacity Growth
To meet the rising demand for energy storage solutions, AESC has been investing in regional production capacity. The company plans to commence production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells in North America in 2024, a strategic move aimed at tapping into the rapidly growing market for energy storage in the region.

Furthermore, AESC’s European LFP production facility is on track to begin series production within the next few years. These developments align with the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in key international markets, strengthening its ability to provide localized energy storage solutions, and ensuring supply chain resilience.
Advancing Energy Storage Technology
AESC’s success can be attributed to its dedication to technological innovation and industry-leading research and development (R&D) initiatives. The company has been at the forefront of advancements in battery chemistry, manufacturing techniques, and safety measures, setting industry standards for high-performance energy storage solutions.
One of AESC’s significant contributions to the energy storage industry is its work on enhancing the lifespan and efficiency of large-format battery cells. The company has focused on improving charge/discharge cycles, energy density, and thermal management, ensuring that its batteries perform optimally in various environmental conditions.
Additionally, AESC’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its approach to responsible battery manufacturing and recycling initiatives. The company is actively exploring second-life applications for retired energy storage batteries, reducing waste and enhancing the circular economy within the battery industry.
