LG Energy Solution Vertech has announced a landmark multi-year agreement with Excelsior Energy Capital (Excelsior) to deliver 7.5 GWh of integrated lithium-ion energy storage solutions in the United States. The collaboration underscores a significant step in advancing grid-scale energy storage, meeting domestic content requirements, and supporting lifecycle services for renewable energy infrastructure.
A Major Milestone in U.S. Energy Storage
The agreement marks a substantial commitment by LG Energy Solution Vertech to bolster its presence in the U.S. energy storage market. With the first delivery scheduled for April 2026, the projects will incorporate LG’s cutting-edge lithium-ion battery solutions and containerized designs. These systems utilize advanced LFP (lithium iron phosphate) long cells, prioritizing energy efficiency and enhanced safety.
Hyung Kim, Head of the ESS Battery Division at LG Energy Solution, emphasized the partnership’s importance. “Excelsior is thoughtfully establishing projects in the U.S. We value being a long-term partner, providing services and software that drive success far beyond initial commissioning. These projects will make meaningful, lasting contributions to the energy grid,” Kim stated.
Supporting Renewable Energy Goals
Excelsior Energy Capital, a leading player in renewable energy investment, brings its extensive expertise in wind and solar generation projects across North America. The company targets mid-market operating and post-development renewable projects, aiming for low-risk, stable returns. Excelsior’s strategy aligns closely with the goals of the new partnership, emphasizing sustainable energy solutions and leveraging U.S.-manufactured components.
Anne Marie Denman, Co-Founder and Partner at Excelsior, highlighted the reasons for selecting LG Energy Solution Vertech. “We chose LG for their comprehensive support throughout the project lifecycle, including exceptional services, software, and products. Their focus on U.S.-manufactured solutions ensures we can fully benefit from domestic production while achieving our renewable energy goals,” she explained.
Enhancing the U.S. Energy Grid
The partnership builds on LG Energy Solution Vertech’s expanding portfolio in the U.S. energy storage market. Following the recent announcement of an 8 GWh agreement with Terra-Gen, Inc., this new collaboration with Excelsior reinforces LG’s role as a key player in grid-scale energy storage.
All projects under the agreement will adhere to domestic content requirements, supporting U.S. manufacturing and job creation. The deployment of LG’s containerized battery systems will include the AEROS™ software suite, a sophisticated control and analytics platform designed to optimize operations and ensure long-term system reliability.
Comprehensive Lifecycle Support
LG Energy Solution Vertech’s services extend beyond initial deployment, encompassing full lifecycle support. The AEROS™ software suite provides operators with real-time insights, predictive analytics, and tools to maximize system performance over time. These features are critical for ensuring that the projects contribute effectively to the energy grid’s reliability and sustainability.
A Shared Vision for Renewable Energy
This partnership reflects the shared vision of LG Energy Solution Vertech and Excelsior Energy Capital to advance renewable energy integration in the U.S. By leveraging state-of-the-art technology and a commitment to sustainability, the collaboration aims to address the growing demand for reliable energy storage solutions.
The projects will not only enhance grid resilience but also contribute to reducing carbon emissions and transitioning toward a cleaner energy future. As the U.S. continues to prioritize renewable energy, agreements like this one play a vital role in achieving national and global climate goals.
