Decision Sciences International Corporation (DSIC) and KoBold Metals have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and deploy a groundbreaking Muon Tomography solution tailored for the mineral exploration and mining industry. This collaboration will leverage DSIC’s proprietary charged particle (muon) tomography technology to create the “Muography Mining Industry Solution,” aimed at providing advanced subsurface imaging capabilities.
Under the agreement, DSIC will fast-track the design and specifications for the solution, which will be field-tested with KoBold. Ultimately, DSIC aims to offer this technology as a global service to the mineral exploration and mining industry.
DSIC’s Expertise
DSIC’s proprietary Discovery® system, widely used in security applications, utilizes charged particle (muon) tomography enhanced by AI and machine learning (ML). This technology enables efficient identification of hidden contraband, anomalies, and threats. Applying these capabilities to the mining sector, the system will offer a more effective method for locating underground ore deposits, addressing the industry’s longstanding challenges of imperfect information and inefficiencies in mineral exploration.
