American Water and K9s For Warriors Extend Partnership for Third Year

The American Water Charitable Foundation, in partnership with American Water’s Military Services Group, has awarded a $25,000 State Strategic Impact grant to K9s For Warriors for the third consecutive year. K9s For Warriors, the nation’s largest provider of trained service dogs for veterans with invisible wounds, will use the funding to continue pairing veterans with life-changing service dogs.

“We’re grateful for the American Water Charitable Foundation’s ongoing support in helping us fulfill our mission to end veteran suicide,” said Lindsay Grayson, Chief Revenue Officer of K9s For Warriors. The organization has already matched over 1,000 veterans with service dogs, providing them with independence and improved quality of life.

Carrie Williams, President of the American Water Charitable Foundation, expressed the importance of the grant, noting, “This partnership helps save two lives: a veteran and a rescue dog, and it aligns with our commitment to supporting veterans, diversity, and inclusion.”

The $25,000 grant is part of the 2024 Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on Water, People, and Communities. Over the past two years, American Water has donated an additional $50,000 in grants to K9s For Warriors, helping sponsor two service dogs, Hydra and Honor, who have successfully been matched with veterans.
