Altamaha Green Energy (AGE), a joint venture between Beasley Green Power, LLC and Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM), has announced that the Georgia Public Service Commission has certified its Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This agreement authorizes AGE to generate and sell up to 70 MW of electricity to Georgia Power Company for the next 30 years. The certification is a pivotal step in AGE’s renewable energy project, which aims to produce sustainable electricity for the state of Georgia.
“Altamaha Green Energy was established in response to Georgia Power’s competitive bidding process for renewable energy solutions,” said Darrell Beasley, Chairman of AGE. “By combining our deep expertise in renewable forestry operations with RYAM’s top-tier high-purity cellulose plant in Jesup, we are uniquely positioned to contribute to Georgia’s energy future.”
Currently in its development phase, the AGE project plans to utilize renewable forestry waste—such as bark, tree limbs, and other biomass typically discarded—to generate sustainable electricity. This initiative not only addresses the rising demand for renewable energy in Georgia but also strengthens the state’s forestry economy and supports local job creation. Further details about the project will be released as it progresses.
