Fusion Capital Partners Partners with Pioneer Power Group

Fusion Capital Partners Acquires Pioneer Power Group

Fusion Capital Partners (“Fusion”), a private investment firm specializing in control buyouts of lower middle-market companies within the industrial sector, has announced the acquisition of Pioneer Power Group, a leading U.S. provider of electrical power systems studies and related field services. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition expands Fusion’s portfolio with a company focused on electrical power system engineering, compliance, inspection, testing and maintenance. Pioneer Power Group has developed a national presence serving organizations that require reliable and properly maintained electrical infrastructure across a wide range of industries.

Founded in 2018, Pioneer Power Group is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, and provides power system engineering and field services designed to help customers comply with key workplace and electrical safety requirements, including those established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NFPA 70E and the National Electrical Code (NEC).

The company combines a large independent team of specialized power system study engineers with field-service capabilities. Its services include electrical data collection, equipment inspection, testing and maintenance. Through a national network of electrical distributors and engineering firms, Pioneer Power Group supports customers across several critical end markets.

Its customer base includes data centers, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, industrial and manufacturing companies, and commercial facilities. These customers depend on electrical systems that can operate safely and reliably, making power system assessments and ongoing maintenance important components of their infrastructure management strategies.

Shreedhar Shah, CEO of Pioneer Power Group, said the company was pleased to welcome Fusion as its strategic partner. He highlighted Fusion’s industry expertise, partnership-oriented approach and experience helping industrial companies expand their operations and pursue growth opportunities.

According to Shah, those capabilities were important factors in the company’s decision to partner with Fusion. He added that the Pioneer Power Group team expects Fusion to provide valuable resources as the company continues strengthening its customer offering and executing its strategic priorities.

Fusion also emphasized the importance of Pioneer Power Group’s market position and specialized capabilities. Jason Cowett, Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Fusion, described Pioneer Power Group as a strong fit for the firm’s investment portfolio because of its established market position, experienced executive management team and specialized range of services and solutions.

Cowett said Fusion looks forward to working with Shah and the Pioneer Power Group team as the companies implement a strategic value creation roadmap. The partnership is expected to support the company’s continued development and future growth while maintaining its focus on customers and electrical infrastructure services.

The acquisition also reflects broader demand for electrical infrastructure services. Electrical equipment and systems require appropriate design, inspection, testing and maintenance to support safe operating environments. Organizations across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and data center markets increasingly depend on electrical infrastructure to support their day-to-day operations.

Winston Dumont-Aubrey, Senior Associate at Fusion, noted that maintaining appropriate electrical equipment and systems is essential to workplace safety. He also pointed to the continuing importance of electrical infrastructure as organizations manage aging assets and increased regulatory requirements.

As infrastructure needs develop, companies are required to address equipment condition, compliance obligations and operational reliability. Pioneer Power Group’s combination of engineering expertise and field-service capabilities positions it to address these requirements for customers operating in multiple sectors.

Following the transaction, Pioneer Power Group will continue operating from its Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. locations. The company will also remain under the leadership of its existing management team, providing continuity for customers, employees and business partners as Fusion becomes the company’s investment partner.

The transaction involved several financial and legal advisors. Fusion was represented by Paul Hastings LLP as legal counsel, while AEC Advisors and BlackArch Partners served as financial advisors. Jefferies Private Fund Advisory also advised Fusion. Pioneer Power Group was represented by Holland and Knight as legal counsel, with Founders Advisors serving as its financial advisor.

The acquisition represents Fusion’s second platform acquisition of 2026 and its fifth platform investment through Fusion Fund I. The transaction follows the firm’s broader strategy of investing in specialized industrial businesses and supporting their continued expansion.

Earlier in 2026, Fusion acquired AQUALIS, a provider of sustainable water management, engineering and compliance services for critical infrastructure. The investment expanded Fusion’s exposure to infrastructure-focused services and complemented its broader portfolio of specialized industrial businesses.

Fusion also completed three strategic acquisitions in 2025. One of those investments was Excel Engineering, a North American provider of testing services covering engines, power generation systems, battery systems, powertrain applications, backup generators and multiple fuel types. The company serves original equipment manufacturer customers across the industrial and power sectors.

Another 2025 investment was Relevant Solutions, a provider of industrial equipment and engineered solutions focused on flow control applications. Fusion also acquired Tavoron, which provides factory automation components, systems and services.

The addition of Pioneer Power Group continues Fusion’s focus on businesses that provide specialized technical services and infrastructure solutions to industrial and commercial customers. Pioneer’s expertise in electrical power systems studies and field services adds another specialized capability to the investment firm’s portfolio.

For Pioneer Power Group, the partnership provides a new ownership structure while preserving the company’s existing leadership and operating locations. The company will continue serving its established customer base through its engineering and field-service operations.

The acquisition also underscores the role of electrical infrastructure in supporting modern facilities. As organizations depend increasingly on complex electrical systems, specialized engineering, testing and maintenance services remain important for addressing safety, compliance and reliability requirements.

With its existing national network, engineering resources and field-service capabilities, Pioneer Power Group will continue its operations under its current management team. Fusion plans to work alongside the company’s leadership as it advances its strategic priorities and seeks to build on its established position in the U.S. electrical power systems services market.

The transaction marks another step in Fusion Capital Partners’ 2026 investment program and adds Pioneer Power Group to a portfolio spanning specialized industrial, infrastructure, engineering, testing, automation, water management and equipment-related businesses.
