During his tenure, he held several key leadership positions, culminating in his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 2011 through 2025. Under his leadership, ABS underwent significant transformation, emerging as a global leader in safety, risk management, digitalization, and decarbonization initiatives within the maritime industry.
Prior to serving as CEO, Mr. Wiernicki held the positions of President and Chief Operating Officer at ABS, where he oversaw global operations and strategic initiatives. He also led the organization’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) division, strengthening its international presence and operational capabilities. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Technology Officer, where he was instrumental in advancing engineering innovation, as well as heading the organization’s risk management consulting business, helping clients navigate increasingly complex regulatory and operational challenges.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from George Washington University, and a Master of Science in Ocean Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, he completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, further strengthening his executive leadership capabilities.
