Exelon Announces New Executive Leadership in Governmental, Regulatory, and External Affairs
Exelon Corporation (Nasdaq: EXC), a Fortune 200 energy company and the nation’s largest utility by customer count, today announced strategic leadership appointments within its Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs (GREA) organization. These changes reflect Exelon’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its relationships with stakeholders and advancing regulatory and legislative priorities across the Mid-Atlantic. At the same time, the company announced the upcoming retirement of one of its long-serving senior executives, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new leadership chapter.
Strategic Promotions to Enhance Regional Leadership
Jaclyn Cantler, formerly Vice President of Electric Operations for Pepco Holdings, has been appointed Senior Vice President of Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs for Delaware and New Jersey. Her new role emphasizes Exelon’s intensified strategic investment in these two key markets. Cantler will now oversee all regulatory, legislative, and strategic affairs for Delmarva Power in Delaware and Atlantic City Electric in New Jersey. She will report directly to Tyler Anthony, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pepco Holdings.
Valencia McClure, previously Vice President of GREA and Pepco Region President, has been promoted to Senior Vice President, GREA for Maryland and the District of Columbia. In this expanded role, McClure will be responsible for driving legislative, regulatory, and strategic initiatives across Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Delmarva Power Maryland, and Pepco, further reinforcing Exelon’s unified approach to public policy and stakeholder engagement. She will report to Colette Honorable, Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Chief Legal Officer at Exelon. McClure will work in close coordination with the leadership of each local energy company under the Exelon umbrella.
These two appointments reflect the company’s internal succession strategy and its emphasis on continuity, experience, and deep customer commitment across its service territories.
Leadership Transition: Alexander Núñez to Retire
Exelon also announced that Alexander Núñez, current Senior Vice President of GREA for BGE, will retire at the end of August 2025 after an illustrious 24-year career with the company. Throughout his tenure, Núñez played an instrumental role in cultivating community partnerships, leading policy efforts, and fostering regulatory excellence, particularly in Maryland. His retirement signals a significant moment for BGE and Exelon, as the company reflects on his contributions and prepares for a seamless leadership handoff.
Executive Perspectives on the New Chapter
Colette Honorable, in discussing the appointments, said:
“These appointments reflect our commitment across Exelon to operate in ways that bring the most value to our customers. The policy landscape is evolving rapidly, and we must remain at the forefront. We’re fortunate to have a highly capable leadership team and proud to promote leaders like Jaclyn and Valencia, whose expertise and passion are critical to our advocacy efforts and to strengthening relationships across our jurisdictions.”
Tamla Olivier, President and CEO of BGE, highlighted the significance of the leadership realignment:
“By consolidating our Maryland regulatory and legislative teams under one senior leader, we gain a more agile and responsive organization. Valencia’s deep experience, especially in building strong connections in both the District of Columbia and Maryland, ensures we are well-positioned to serve our customers and stakeholders. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Alex Núñez for his service, leadership, and legacy of collaboration and community impact.”
Tyler Anthony, President and CEO of Pepco Holdings, added:
“Valencia and Jaclyn are collaborative, motivational leaders who understand the needs of the communities we serve. Their customer-centric approach and operational experience will enhance the delivery of reliable, affordable service across our Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and D.C. operations. We are confident they will bring continued excellence to our external engagement strategies.”
