TurningPoint and Madison Energy to Develop 20 MW of Community Solar in Illinois

TurningPoint Energy (TPE) and Madison Energy Infrastructure (MEI) have announced a partnership to develop a 20 MW community solar portfolio in Will County, Illinois. This four-project initiative supports Illinois’ goal of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050, with an interim target of 40% renewable energy within the next six years.

TPE developed the projects, while MEI will own, construct, and operate them, providing solar subscriptions to both commercial clients and local residents. Salar Naini, President of TPE, emphasized the collaboration’s role in advancing Illinois’ clean energy goals. “This partnership ensures long-term benefits for Will County, reflecting our commitment to sustainable development,” Naini stated.

Zachary Muzdakis, MEI’s Director of Market Development, highlighted the combined strengths of the partnership. “By leveraging TPE’s development expertise and MEI’s operational capabilities, we’re not only scaling clean energy but also driving economic growth through sustained community investment,” he said.

The projects, located in Joliet, Crete, and Peotone, range from 2.8 MWdc to 7.5 MWdc and are expected to generate over 30 GWh in their first year of operation. The energy produced will benefit several leading corporations and approximately 1,000 residential customers.

This initiative is part of TPE’s broader mission to develop 40 community solar projects in Illinois, representing a $500 million investment. TPE has already committed over $725,000 in charitable contributions across its project areas in Illinois. For the Will County portfolio, TPE and MEI have pledged $100,000 to local organizations, including Angels on Assignment and the Peotone Future Farmers of America.

Madison Energy Infrastructure continues to expand its clean energy portfolio, which now exceeds 500 MW across 25 states, with expertise spanning development, engineering, construction, and long-term asset management. This partnership marks another milestone in its mission to deliver innovative, high-impact renewable energy solutions nationwide.
