Tom’s Truck Center, a leader in commercial truck sales and service and a key member of the Nikola sales and service dealer network, has opened the first onsite hydrogen refueling station at a commercial truck dealership. The station, located at Tom’s Truck Center in Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles County, features a Nikola HYLA modular hydrogen refueling system for heavy-duty vehicles. Situated strategically along Highway 5, one of the busiest highways in the U.S., the high-pressure (700-bar) station can refuel up to 30 trucks per day, operating Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tom’s Truck Center President and CEO KC Heidler emphasized the importance of hydrogen in driving a cleaner transportation future: “This station allows us to support our hydrogen vehicle customers by providing the necessary infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and setting new standards in clean transportation.”
The grand opening event was attended by notable figures such as State Senators Josh Newman and Bob Archuleta, Santa Fe Springs City Manager Rene Bobadilla, and Nikola Corporation President and CEO Stephen Girsky. Senator Newman hailed the station as a critical step toward California’s zero-emission transportation goals, calling it a “milestone for heavy goods movement in the state.”
Tom’s Truck Center also provides sales, rentals, leasing, and service for electric and hydrogen-powered trucks, with dedicated experts to assist customers in navigating government incentives and charging solutions. This modular station marks the beginning of their hydrogen infrastructure expansion, with plans for a permanent hydrogen refueling station to be completed by the end of 2026.
