
Tigo Energy Introduces GO Battery Energy Storage System for European Residential Market
Tigo Energy, a global provider of intelligent solar and energy software solutions, has announced the launch of the new GO Battery, an advanced residential energy storage system designed specifically for the European market. The product represents the newest addition to the company’s expanding GO optimized product family and is aimed at helping homeowners maximize the value of solar energy while improving energy independence and system flexibility.
The GO Battery joins other products in the GO ecosystem, including the GO EV Charger for electric vehicle charging and the GO Junction, which supports integration with residential heat pump systems. Together, these technologies are designed to create a connected home energy environment in which solar generation, storage, and energy consumption devices work together to improve efficiency and reduce dependence on the traditional electricity grid.
The new battery system has been developed with a modular architecture that allows homeowners to scale their storage capacity according to their energy requirements. Each battery unit has a storage capacity of 3.68 kilowatt-hours (kWh), and multiple units can be combined to create a system with total storage capacity ranging from 7.3 kWh for smaller homes to as much as 47.9 kWh for larger residences or households with higher energy consumption levels. This scalable approach allows homeowners to start with a smaller installation and expand it over time as their energy usage increases or as additional solar panels are installed.
Installer preorders for the GO Battery are currently open through authorized distributors across Europe. According to the company, shipments of the new system are scheduled to begin in June 2026, marking the start of wider market availability.
The launch comes at a time when solar power adoption across Europe continues to grow rapidly. Several European countries have recently set new records for single-day solar electricity generation, reflecting the increasing role of solar power in national energy systems. At the same time, global solar installations grew by approximately 11 percent between 2024 and 2025, indicating sustained momentum in the transition toward renewable energy.
As solar generation expands, residential energy storage solutions such as the GO Battery are becoming increasingly important. Batteries allow homeowners to store excess solar energy produced during daylight hours and use it later in the evening or during periods when solar generation is lower. The GO Battery is designed to simplify installation while maintaining strong performance characteristics. Each module weighs about 34 kilograms, making it easier for installers to transport and mount the system in residential environments. In addition to simplified installation, the modular structure allows the battery system to expand as household energy needs change. If a homeowner decides to increase storage capacity in the future, additional modules can be added without replacing the existing system or performing extensive electrical modifications. The GO Battery is designed to integrate seamlessly with the company’s broader energy management ecosystem, including the Tigo EI platform. This integration enables homeowners and installers to monitor energy production, storage levels, and consumption patterns through a unified digital interface. As the ecosystem continues to evolve, the company aims to support smarter interactions with the electrical grid, enabling homes to respond more dynamically to electricity demand and supply conditions.
Compatibility has also been a key design consideration for the new system. The GO Battery is backward compatible with all inverters currently sold by Tigo Energy in the European market, including those used in the company’s EI Residential Solar Solution product line. This compatibility ensures that existing customers can add battery storage to previously installed solar systems without needing to replace their inverter equipment.
The system supports both single-phase and three-phase electrical configurations, making it suitable for a wide range of residential installations across different European markets. In addition, the battery system supports a maximum charge and discharge current of 50 amps. This capability allows for faster energy transfer between the solar system, the battery, and household loads, helping households respond quickly to changes in electricity demand.
System monitoring and management are handled through the Tigo EI software platform. Installers and system operators can access detailed information about individual battery units, including operational status, performance metrics, and system diagnostics. This level of visibility can help installers detect potential issues earlier and address them remotely, reducing the need for on-site service visits and minimizing maintenance costs.
Safety and reliability are also central to the system’s design. The GO Battery uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, a battery technology widely recognized for its thermal stability and long lifecycle compared with some other lithium-based battery chemistries. The battery system is enclosed in a housing rated at IP65, which protects the equipment from dust and water exposure. This allows the system to be installed both indoors and outdoors depending on the requirements of the property.
Another important feature of the system is its ability to operate in harsh weather conditions. The GO Battery is designed to function in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. This capability makes the system suitable for colder regions in Europe where winter temperatures can drop significantly.
To ensure compliance with regional regulatory requirements, the battery system carries CE and UKCA certifications. It also meets several European grid standards, including VDE-AR-E2510 and CEI 0-21, which are important technical requirements for connecting energy storage systems to national electricity networks.
