SLB Unveils AI-Driven Lumi Platform

Global energy technology leader SLB (NYSE: SLB) has announced the launch of Lumi™, an advanced data and AI platform that integrates cutting-edge artificial intelligence, including generative AI, into workflows across the energy value chain.

Lumi™ is an open, secure, and modular platform designed to enhance access to high-quality data across subsurface, surface, planning, and operations domains. This integration boosts cross-domain collaboration, providing new insights and intelligence that improve decision-making quality and speed at the enterprise level. The platform features the latest large language models (LLMs) and industry-specific foundation models from SLB, enabling scalable AI adoption for customers.

“AI is revolutionizing our industry, but its full potential is often limited by the complexity of our data ecosystems,” said Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital and Integration at SLB. “With the Lumi platform, we aim to unlock and contextualize data for our global clients, allowing them to scale AI workflows and advance their digital transformation.”

Lumi™ adheres to the latest industry standards and is accessible across major cloud service providers as well as on-premises, ensuring global availability for SLB’s customer base. Users can deploy both traditional and generative AI models, including SLB’s foundational models for exploration and production (E&P), transforming data-driven decision-making, operational automation, and real-time optimizations throughout the energy value chain.

The Lumi™ platform will enhance SLB’s Delfi™ digital platform by incorporating its data foundations and machine learning capabilities, resulting in improved reservoir modeling, seismic and wellbore interpretation, directional drilling, and geosteering workflows. It will also introduce new automation and operational efficiency features, supporting high-value, low-carbon operations.

By integrating technologies from leading partners with SLB’s digital and domain expertise, Lumi™ provides comprehensive access to data and AI capabilities across the energy production cycle. Its open architecture supports data integration from both structured and unstructured sources using standard protocols, such as the Open Group’s OSDU® Technical Standard, and leverages Cognite Data Fusion® for production data optimization. Additionally, the platform adheres to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity standards and emerging AI regulations.
