rPlus Energies Partners with Idaho Power and Meta on 125-MW Pleasant Valley Solar 2 PPA

rPlus Energies, a leading renewable energy developer, has secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Idaho Power for its 125-megawatt (MW) Pleasant Valley Solar 2 project in Ada County, Idaho. This project follows the success of the 200 MW Pleasant Valley Solar 1, which is currently under construction. Both projects will supply solar power to Idaho Power’s grid and help Meta achieve its goal of powering its data center in Kuna, ID with 100% renewable energy.

“We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with Idaho Power and rPlus Energies to bring more renewable energy to Idaho with Pleasant Valley Solar 2,” said Urvi Parekh, Global Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta. “Initiatives like these are crucial as we work toward supporting all our operations with clean, renewable energy.”

This initiative is part of Idaho Power’s Clean Energy Your Way – Construction Program, designed to help businesses meet their sustainability and carbon emission reduction goals.

“Collaboration between energy providers and customers is key to advancing a clean energy future,” said Adam Richins, Senior Vice President and COO of Idaho Power. “We’re excited to support Meta and rPlus Energies as they pursue their sustainability goals while helping us provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy to our customers.”

Pleasant Valley Solar 2 builds on the momentum of Pleasant Valley Solar 1, which will be majority-owned by Matrix Renewables and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in early 2025.

“We’re excited to work once again with Idaho Power and Meta on Pleasant Valley Solar 2,” said Luigi Resta, President and CEO of rPlus Energies. “Our strong partnerships help make every stage of development smoother, and we’re eager to contribute another significant project to Idaho’s renewable energy sector.”

Construction of the project is set to begin in late 2024, with plans to engage local vendors and create around 200 construction jobs. Additionally, the partners in Pleasant Valley Solar 1 raised $123,000 for local scholarships benefiting Ada County students at Boise State University and the College of Western Idaho. This commitment to supporting local education and workforce development will continue with Pleasant Valley Solar 2.
