Plenitude has announced the operational launch of its Numancia wind farm located in Almarza, Soria, Spain. Covering an area of 10 hectares, the facility is connected to the Garray electrical substation through a 17 km medium voltage overhead line.
The wind farm features three Vestas V136 turbines with a total installed capacity of approximately 13 megawatts (MW). It is expected to generate around 31 GWh annually, enough to meet the energy needs of over 9,500 households.
Mariangiola Mollicone, Managing Director of Plenitude in Spain, stated, “With the Numancia plant, we reaffirm our commitment to investing in Spain, adding Castilla y León to our growing list of autonomous communities where we operate and build renewable plants. This enhances our presence in the region, where we supply energy to over 24,000 retail customers, including 3,500 SMEs.”
The wind farm is equipped with automatic bird passage detection systems to protect local wildlife and includes an environmental monitoring plan to ensure the installations are well-integrated into the landscape. Additionally, a recreational open area for public use has been developed next to the site. Plenitude is also exploring new investment opportunities in Castilla y León to further enhance renewable energy generation and optimize supply for its retail and SME customers.
With the launch of the Numancia wind farm, Plenitude now operates more than 440 MW of installed capacity in photovoltaic and wind energy across Spain, with facilities in Castilla y León, Galicia, La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Murcia. The company has projects under construction totaling around 1 GW in Andalusia (Seville and Granada), Castilla y León (Salamanca), and Extremadura (Badajoz). In addition, Plenitude is developing over 2 GW in new projects at various stages, including hybrid solutions, battery storage technology, and offshore wind initiatives.
Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, operates in over 15 countries worldwide, focusing on integrating renewable energy production with a capacity exceeding 3 GW. The company serves 10 million European clients and has a network of 20,000 electric vehicle charging points. By 2027, Plenitude aims to reach 11.5 million clients, increase its installed renewable capacity to over 8 GW, and expand its network to 40,000 charging points.
