ONE Nuclear Launches 5 GW Louisiana Energy Portfolio

ONE Nuclear Unveils 5 GW Louisiana Energy Portfolio

ONE Nuclear Energy LLC, an independent developer of large-scale energy solutions, has announced the Louisiana Portfolio, a three-project energy and technology program with a combined development target of approximately 5 GW. The portfolio is designed to support Louisiana’s rapidly growing demand for electricity from data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities and other energy-intensive industrial users.

The Louisiana Portfolio brings together three projects—Cayman, Amberjack and Barracuda—each designed to address a different aspect of the state’s evolving energy requirements. Project Cayman is focused on dispatchable natural-gas generation and battery storage, Barracuda combines dedicated generation and storage with data center infrastructure, while Project Amberjack is being developed as a pathway toward advanced nuclear generation.

The announcement follows ONE Nuclear’s earlier disclosures regarding Project Cayman and Project Amberjack and represents the company’s broader strategy for developing complementary energy infrastructure in Louisiana. Although the three projects are being advanced as part of a unified portfolio, each will proceed independently based on its own technical, commercial, environmental, regulatory and financing requirements.

“The Louisiana trilogy offers three distinct, complementary solutions to answer America’s soaring power demand,” said Richard Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of ONE Nuclear. “Cayman delivers scale, Barracuda connects dedicated power with digital infrastructure, and Amberjack creates a disciplined path toward advanced nuclear power. Together, they demonstrate our long-term commitment to powering Louisiana’s economic growth.”

Project Cayman

Project Cayman is being advanced as a 2.88 GW natural-gas generation and battery energy storage project, with potential for a co-located, high-capacity data center technology campus. The project is intended to combine modular, dispatchable generation with grid-scale energy storage to provide reliable electricity for large industrial and digital infrastructure customers.

The development comes as demand for dependable power continues to increase in regions experiencing significant investment in data centers, manufacturing and other electricity-intensive facilities. Cayman is intended to contribute additional generation capacity while supporting customers that require reliable and scalable power supplies.

ONE Nuclear has executed a binding letter of intent providing site control for the Cayman development. The project is expected to progress through multiple phases, with development timing and configuration influenced by customer demand, fuel availability, utility requirements, interconnection studies, environmental assessments, permitting and financing.

The company emphasized that Cayman’s current development plan does not include nuclear generation. Its proposed generation portfolio is centered on natural gas, supported by battery energy storage.

Project Amberjack

Project Amberjack represents ONE Nuclear’s advanced nuclear component within the Louisiana Portfolio. The company is developing Amberjack as a standalone, scalable, multi-unit small modular reactor, or SMR, campus targeting up to 1 GW of advanced nuclear generation capacity.

The ultimate capacity, reactor technology and plant configuration will be determined through a series of development activities, including technology selection, detailed engineering, environmental reviews, transmission and interconnection studies, commercial arrangements, financing and the federal nuclear licensing process.

Following the achievement of site control, Amberjack is moving into additional technical and environmental evaluation. Planned activities include land, geotechnical and environmental field studies, assessments of cooling-water requirements, logistics evaluations, transmission and interconnection analysis, and vendor-neutral screening of potential SMR technologies.

ONE Nuclear also plans continued engagement with local and state authorities, community stakeholders and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The company noted that work completed to date does not represent NRC site approval, a reactor license, environmental authorization or a final engineering determination.

Barracuda Energy Park and Technology Campus

The third component of the portfolio, Barracuda, is being master-planned as a 1.2 GW Energy Park and Technology Campus. The project is designed to create a highly reliable, purpose-built power environment for hyperscale data center operators and other large electricity users.

Under the current planning configuration, Barracuda could include up to approximately 1 GW of critical IT data center capacity, approximately 1.2 GW of modular, dispatchable natural-gas generation and approximately 300 MW/1.2 GWh of four-hour battery energy storage.

The combination of generation and storage is intended to provide flexibility and reliability for large digital infrastructure loads. Barracuda is also expected to be developed in phases, allowing generation, storage and data center capacity to expand in response to customer requirements and project conditions.

Development decisions will depend on factors including customer demand, site diligence, utility requirements, permitting, fuel supply, commercial agreements and financing.
