Oklo and Liberty Energy Launch Strategic Alliance to Deliver Next-Generation Integrated Power Solutions
Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), a trailblazer in advanced nuclear energy innovation, and Liberty Energy Inc. (NYSE: LBRT), a leader in cutting-edge energy services and technologies, have formally launched a strategic partnership that promises to reshape how large-scale power consumers meet their escalating energy needs. This landmark alliance is designed to offer a seamless, integrated pathway from conventional energy sources to advanced, clean, and resilient nuclear baseload power.
The two companies are combining their respective strengths—Oklo’s pioneering small-scale nuclear reactor technology and Liberty’s proven expertise in natural gas power generation and load management—to provide a holistic, flexible energy solution. The joint offering is especially tailored for clients with high energy demands, including data centers, large industrial campuses, and utility-scale projects. It ensures near-term power delivery through natural gas while offering a planned transition to zero-carbon nuclear energy.
Bridging Today’s Power Needs with Tomorrow’s Clean Energy
The foundation of the alliance rests on delivering a reliable and uninterrupted power supply from the outset. Liberty Energy’s Forte℠ system, which includes mobile natural gas power generation units and advanced load management services, will play a pivotal role in this initial stage. Forte℠ is designed to provide not only consistent primary power but also a responsive and intelligent system for managing variable loads and mitigating grid disruptions.
As projects scale and long-term energy planning becomes increasingly critical, Oklo’s Aurora powerhouse—an advanced fission technology based on compact, factory-fabricated reactors—will be integrated into the energy systems. These powerhouses are engineered to provide clean, safe, and continuous baseload energy with minimal footprint and resource requirements. Their scalability, modularity, and operational simplicity make them ideally suited to support the growing energy demands of large and complex operations.
This collaborative model enables clients to access a unified, turnkey energy strategy—one that begins with traditional generation but evolves organically toward advanced nuclear energy, offering energy independence, environmental sustainability, and cost predictability.
A Comprehensive Managed Power Offering
The Oklo–Liberty alliance is not merely a supply arrangement; it represents a rethinking of how energy is sourced, managed, and scaled in the 21st century. The goal is to deliver a comprehensive, fully managed power solution that includes:
- Immediate Primary Power: Through Liberty’s natural gas-powered Forte℠ units, which can be rapidly deployed and are engineered for resilience in diverse environments.
- Load Management and Optimization: Real-time tools and services that intelligently adjust to usage patterns, peak demands, and grid events.
- Long-Term Clean Baseload Energy: Oklo’s Aurora powerhouses provide a zero-carbon complement to Liberty’s services, offering up to several decades of maintenance-free, carbon-free operation.
- Seamless Transition: An integrated pathway that allows customers to migrate toward clean energy with minimal operational disruption or additional capital investments.
- Turnkey Service Delivery: All aspects of the solution—from generation and installation to operation and maintenance—will be handled by the partnership, enabling customers to focus on core business operations without worrying about energy infrastructure.
This model is particularly attractive to sectors like data center operations, which are rapidly expanding and whose power needs are both continuous and intensive. Likewise, manufacturing facilities, mining operations, and energy-intensive logistics and transportation hubs stand to benefit from the ability to scale operations without being constrained by power availability or regulatory uncertainty.
Meeting the Market Where It’s Headed
According to Ron Gusek, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Energy, the alliance is designed to meet the moment—and the future. “Our strategic alliance with Oklo advances a power strategy aimed at accelerating deployment for sophisticated, large load customers,” Gusek stated. “This innovative approach redefines how today’s most energy-intensive industries can scale efficiently with cost-effective, next-generation power solutions, combining rapid deployment, intelligent load management, and integrated grid management.”
Gusek emphasized that this alliance was forged not just with today’s energy realities in mind, but with a forward-looking vision. With the global drive toward net-zero emissions, the push for localized energy generation, and increasing concerns over grid reliability and security, the Liberty–Oklo partnership is poised to fill a critical market need.
For Liberty Energy, this collaboration also deepens a strategic investment it made in 2023, when it committed $10 million to Oklo. That investment followed a comprehensive evaluation of emerging technologies in the advanced nuclear sector. Liberty identified Oklo’s novel approach—featuring small, modular reactors with a high degree of design flexibility and cost efficiency—as a potential game changer. Oklo’s business model, which focuses on delivering energy-as-a-service rather than just power equipment, was also seen as a strong fit for Liberty’s vision of end-to-end energy support.
A Vision for Scalable, Clean, and Resilient Energy
Oklo, for its part, sees the alliance as a critical step in delivering on its mission to transform how energy is produced and consumed, particularly by large users who require both scalability and sustainability.
“This collaboration gives large-scale power users a turnkey alternative that integrates generation, backup, grid interaction, and optimization, all through a single provider,” said Jacob DeWitte, Co-Founder and CEO of Oklo. “We’re delivering a next-generation approach to energy that gives customers the ability to scale power with confidence and offers a clear path to zero-carbon energy.”
Oklo’s Aurora reactors are designed for versatility and long-term deployment. Each unit can operate for up to 20 years without refueling, with safety features rooted in passive, walk-away-safe designs. This longevity, combined with their modular nature, makes them uniquely suitable for remote or underserved areas, as well as highly secure environments like military bases or strategic manufacturing zones.
Moreover, the integration of Oklo’s technology into Liberty’s managed power framework means that customers can opt in to a cleaner future without needing to overhaul their entire energy setup all at once. Instead, they are offered a guided, phased transition where traditional and advanced energy sources co-exist, with the latter gradually taking over as infrastructure and permitting timelines allow.
Transforming the Energy Supply Chain
One of the most disruptive aspects of the Oklo–Liberty partnership is how it changes the energy supply chain model. Rather than having to coordinate multiple providers—one for conventional energy, another for clean energy transition, another for load management and grid services—customers now gain access to a unified solution from a single alliance. This simplification reduces friction in procurement, speeds up time-to-deployment, and delivers consistent pricing and accountability.
Additionally, by providing on-site or near-site generation with both gas and nuclear sources, the alliance helps customers reduce dependence on strained grid systems, avoid transmission bottlenecks, and enhance energy security. This is particularly important as energy reliability becomes an existential concern for digital infrastructure providers and other 24/7 operations.
