Ohmium Announces CE Mark Approval for Lotus PEM Electrolyzers

Ohmium International, a leading green hydrogen company specializing in advanced Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers, is pleased to announce that it has received CE mark approval for its Lotus 1.5 electrolyzer. The CE mark signifies that the product complies with the European Union’s rigorous safety, health, and environmental protection standards, underscoring Ohmium’s commitment to quality and reliability in the green hydrogen sector.

Ohmium’s electrolyzers convert water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity, and when powered by renewable energy, they produce green hydrogen, a vital clean fuel for a sustainable energy future. The Lotus PEM electrolyzers are equipped with advanced power electronics, enabling rapid dynamic ramping—essential for integration with intermittent renewable energy sources. They offer high efficiency and energy density, making them an optimal choice for green hydrogen production.

Achieving the CE mark confirms that Ohmium’s Lotus electrolyzer meets European safety directives, allowing it to be distributed throughout the European Economic Area (EEA). The certification process involved a comprehensive review of the electrolyzer’s design, components, and testing methods, alongside an evaluation of Ohmium’s quality control procedures. Bureau Veritas, a recognized notified body, conducted this thorough assessment, focusing on pressure equipment design and testing.

“Unified safety standards are crucial for promoting the adoption of green hydrogen projects globally,” stated Dr. Chock Karuppaiah, Ohmium’s CTO. “We are proud to leverage our electrochemical, technical, and practical expertise to contribute to these standards. Ohmium played a key role in developing and maintaining ISO 22734, and we also assisted in creating the US and Canadian binational standard for hydrogen electrolyzer design, adopted in 2023.”

Arne Ballantine, CEO of Ohmium, emphasized, “Our commitment is to help customers worldwide transition to green hydrogen quickly, easily, and cost-effectively. The CE mark approval is a significant milestone for ensuring quality and safety, and it simplifies regulatory inspections and installations, further supporting our customers in achieving their objectives.”
