The environmentally friendly Mireo Plus B trains will run on all lines of the East Brandenburg rail network
With the launch of service in December 2024, battery-electric trains will be used for the first time in the VBB network in Berlin and Brandenburg
. The Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan area will get the first battery-electric, emigration-free indigenous trains in late 2024 along with an bettered and expanded schedule. Emission-free, energy-effective, and recyclable trains for East Brandenburg
. In their Europe-wide tender for the East Brandenburg rail network, the countries of Berlin and Brandenburg easily concentrated on indispensable drives and reducing environmental pollution. At present, diesel-powered trains operate on the network’s routes. By switching to the Mireo Plus B battery-powered trains, periodic consumption of diesel energy will be reduced by around4.4 million liters in the East Brandenburg network. The new trains will also fully exclude original CO2 emigrations and, depending on the electricity blend, also cut supra-indigenous emigrations by roughly tons per time. At the same time, they will significantly reduce fine dust emigrations.
The battery- mongrel train draws its energy from the overhead contact line. Onnon-electrified sections of the network’s routes, lithium-ion batteries – preliminarily charged on the galvanized sections – give the train’s power force. Recovered retardation energy is also used for powering the train. The two- auto train has a battery-electric range of further than 90 kilometers.
Further service and comfort for passengers
The East Brandenburg network also meets all the indigenous rail transport quality norms set by the countries of Berlin and Brandenburg. The new trains will give fresh passenger- acquainted services with regard to both outfit and service norms.
