Irdeto and ChargeHub Strengthen EV Charging with Integrated Plug & Charge and Roaming Solution
Irdeto, a global leader in digital platform security, and ChargeHub, North America’s top roaming interoperability hub for electric vehicle (EV) charging, are advancing their strategic partnership with a new, fully integrated solution. This offering combines Plug & Charge (P&C) capabilities with roaming features, providing a seamless and scalable solution for EV manufacturers and service providers.
The new collaboration brings a ready-to-deploy solution that simplifies and scales EV charging infrastructure for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and e-Mobility Service Providers (eMSPs). Irdeto’s Plug & Charge toolkit, part of the CrossCharge PKI platform, enables secure, automated charging without requiring additional authentication. Meanwhile, ChargeHub’s Passport eRoaming Hub supports over 170 roaming connections and more than 120,000 compatible charging ports across the U.S. and Canada, allowing EV drivers to roam across multiple networks with a single account.
The integrated solution ensures smooth interoperability across networks, reducing the complexity of managing multiple systems and offering a unified approach to both P&C and roaming services. Operators benefit from a single monthly reconciliation for roaming and P&C services, streamlining billing and enhancing financial efficiency.
Accelerating EV Charging Infrastructure Development
The partnership brings a scalable, efficient solution that reduces time-to-market for OEMs and service providers integrating P&C and roaming. With end-to-end testing capabilities across DC and AC charging, Irdeto and ChargeHub’s collaboration accelerates the integration process. ChargeHub’s expansive network of 170 roaming connections in North America provides exceptional scalability and reliability as the EV market continues to grow.
Unlike competitors that outsource part of their solutions, Irdeto and ChargeHub’s technologies are developed in-house, ensuring greater control over quality, security, and integration. This gives operators and OEMs the confidence to scale their EV offerings with a secure and future-proof solution.
“We’re thrilled to advance EV charging with this collaboration,” said Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub. “By combining ChargeHub’s expansive roaming network with Irdeto’s secure P&C technology, we are making EV charging more accessible and efficient.”
Commitment to EV Interoperability
Irdeto’s active involvement in key industry groups helps shape the future of EV charging interoperability. Through its leadership, Irdeto contributes to the development of a connected, secure, and scalable EV ecosystem.
“With the growing adoption of electric vehicles, the need for secure, scalable, and efficient charging solutions has never been more critical,” said Niels Haverkorn, SVP of New Markets at Irdeto. “Our collaboration provides an integrated solution that combines the simplicity of Plug & Charge with the convenience of roaming, benefiting both operators and EV drivers.”
This partnership between ChargeHub and Irdeto sets the stage for the future of EV charging in North America, offering a more connected, convenient, and secure charging experience. Together, the companies aim to drive the adoption of electric vehicles and contribute to a sustainable transportation future.
