IFM Investors Launches Texas-Based Mobius Renewables Platform

IFM Investors Establishes Mobius Renewables as a Global Low-Carbon Fuels Platform Anchored in Biomethane

IFM Investors (“IFM”), a leading global institutional investment manager focused on long-term infrastructure assets, has announced the formation of Mobius Renewables, a newly established, global, vertically integrated low-carbon fuels platform. The company has been created to accelerate the development, production, distribution, and commercialization of biomethane at scale across key energy markets in North America and Europe, with ambitions to expand its global footprint over time.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Mobius Renewables is designed to capitalize on the growing role of biomethane—also known as renewable natural gas (RNG)—as an infrastructure-grade fuel capable of delivering meaningful emissions reductions across multiple end-use sectors. The platform brings together IFM’s existing renewable gas assets, development pipelines, and operational expertise under a unified strategy focused on disciplined growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation.

To lead the new company, IFM has appointed Cynthia Walker as President and Chief Executive Officer. Walker brings extensive executive, financial, and energy sector experience to the role and will oversee the integration of assets, expansion of production capacity, and development of strategic partnerships as Mobius Renewables scales its operations.

Building a Scaled, Integrated Biomethane Platform

Mobius Renewables will unite IFM’s existing biomethane platform, GreenGasUSA, with planned acquisitions of operating biomethane facilities, as well as new development opportunities originated by Mobius Fuels. By combining operating assets with a robust development pipeline, the company is structured to deliver both near-term cash flow and long-term growth.

Once fully assembled, Mobius Renewables is expected to achieve more than 5.5 million MMBtu per year of biomethane production and distribution volumes. These volumes will be generated from a diversified portfolio of feedstocks, including landfill gas and anaerobic digestion of organic waste streams. This scale positions Mobius Renewables among the leading global producers of biomethane and reflects IFM’s conviction in the long-term fundamentals of the low-carbon fuels market.

The platform’s vertically integrated model is intended to enhance reliability, reduce execution risk, and optimize value across the entire biomethane value chain—from waste sourcing and gas upgrading to transportation, marketing, and end-use delivery.

Leadership Focused on Infrastructure-Grade Reliability

According to Cynthia Walker, the launch of Mobius Renewables represents an opportunity to redefine how biomethane is developed and deployed globally.

“We are building Mobius Renewables to set a new standard for scale, reliability, and partnership in the biomethane industry,” Walker said. “Our mission is to convert waste into a globally relevant, infrastructure-grade renewable fuel. With IFM’s backing, a talented team, and the reach of our expanding platform, we are well positioned to help partners unlock the full value of their resources while advancing sustainability objectives.”

Walker emphasized that Mobius Renewables will prioritize long-term customer relationships, operational discipline, and strategic partnerships with municipalities, waste operators, utilities, and industrial customers. These partnerships are expected to play a central role in securing feedstock supply and enabling stable offtake arrangements.

A Market at an Inflection Point

Mobius Renewables enters the market at a pivotal moment for biomethane. Once largely limited to localized waste-to-energy projects, biomethane is increasingly being recognized as a scalable, dispatchable, and low-carbon substitute for fossil natural gas. Its compatibility with existing gas infrastructure makes it particularly attractive for decarbonizing sectors that are difficult to electrify.

The company plans to drive demand growth by expanding customer relationships across a broad range of end-use markets, including transportation, marine fuels, power generation, natural gas utilities, and industrial applications. While initial efforts will focus on North America and Europe, Mobius Renewables also sees long-term opportunities in Asia, particularly as countries seek lower-carbon LNG supply chains and alternative fuels to meet climate targets.

By supplying biomethane into domestic gas grids and global LNG systems, Mobius Renewables aims to play a meaningful role in reducing lifecycle emissions while supporting energy security and system reliability.

IFM’s Long-Term Investment Strategy

The launch of Mobius Renewables underscores IFM’s continued commitment to the low-carbon fuels sector, where the firm sees strong structural tailwinds driven by decarbonization policies, corporate sustainability commitments, and long-term supply-demand imbalances.

“We are excited to establish this Texas-based platform and to further expand into the global low-carbon fuels sector,” said Julio Garcia, Head of Infrastructure, North America for IFM. “Our conviction remains strong given the durable long-term fundamentals and the sustained imbalance between supply and demand for low-carbon fuels. Cynthia’s leadership brings the experience and sector insight needed to support our growth plans and long-term investment strategy.”

IFM’s approach emphasizes patient capital, infrastructure-grade assets, and disciplined execution—characteristics that align well with biomethane projects, which typically require long development timelines but offer stable, long-duration returns once operational.

Experienced Leadership at the Helm

Prior to joining Mobius Renewables, Cynthia Walker founded and served as President and CEO of Mobius Fuels LLC, a U.S.-based renewable natural gas development and operating company. Earlier, she held senior leadership roles at TES-H2, a global green hydrogen company, where she served as Chief Executive Officer for the Americas and Chief Strategy Officer for the broader group.

Walker also spent many years at Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY), holding several senior executive roles including Senior Vice President of Midstream & Marketing and Chief Financial Officer. Earlier in her career, she was a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs & Co.

In addition to her executive roles, Walker currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Flowco Holdings (NYSE: FLOC) and has previously served on the boards of Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) and Chord Energy (NASDAQ: CHRD).

Positioning for Long-Term Growth

With strong institutional backing, an experienced leadership team, and a diversified portfolio strategy, Mobius Renewables is positioned to become a central player in the global biomethane market. By combining waste management, energy infrastructure, and decarbonization objectives, the company aims to deliver both environmental benefits and durable financial returns.

As governments and corporations intensify efforts to reduce emissions while maintaining reliable energy systems, platforms like Mobius Renewables are expected to play an increasingly critical role in the evolving global energy landscape.
