Iberdrola has achieved a record high in electricity distribution, delivering 177,943 GWh in the first nine months of the year, a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects a rebound in electricity demand across all markets where the company operates.
In tandem with rising demand, Iberdrola set a new record for renewable energy generation, reaching 63,300 GWh—a 7.4% increase year-over-year. Offshore wind energy led this growth, increasing by 18%.
Over the past year, Iberdrola has installed more than 2,800 MW of renewable energy, marking a 7% rise. Notably, offshore wind capacity surged by 47.5%, nearing 2,400 MW, driven by new wind farms in France and Germany.
The company’s total renewable capacity now exceeds 44,100 MW, with wind power constituting over 41% of its energy mix, followed by hydroelectric at 23.3%.
In Spain, renewable energy production reached over 25,600 GWh, reflecting a 24.8% increase compared to last year, primarily due to increased hydroelectric generation, which compensated for a decline in onshore wind output.
Currently, 84% of Iberdrola’s production is emission-free, with 100% emission-free generation reported in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Greece, and Bulgaria. In Spain, the emission-free percentage stands at 91%.
As part of its commitment to electrification and energy self-sufficiency, Iberdrola has invested over €160 billion in the energy transition over the past two decades. Looking ahead, the company has an investment plan totaling €46 billion, which includes €41 billion outlined in its strategic plan and an additional €5 billion for the acquisition of ENW in the UK.
