Guzman Energy Expands Operations and Commercial Teams to Drive Growth and Market Expansion
Guzman Energy, a wholesale power provider dedicated to delivering innovative energy solutions for U.S. communities and organizations, announced the expansion of its operations and commercial leadership teams with the addition of several key roles and highly experienced professionals. This expansion reflects the company’s commitment to scaling its capabilities, diversifying its offerings, and pursuing ambitious growth in new markets.
The company has established itself as a partner for municipalities, cooperatives, and organizations seeking cost-effective and sustainable power solutions. With the energy sector undergoing unprecedented transformation—driven by shifting customer needs, technological advances, and the growing demand for renewable integration—Guzman Energy sees its current phase as an opportunity to broaden its services and deepen customer relationships. Strengthening both operational leadership and commercial expertise is a cornerstone of this strategy.
Strengthening Operational Leadership with Scott Manley
To spearhead the company’s operational strategy, Guzman Energy has appointed Scott Manley as Executive Vice President, Director of Operations. In this newly created role, Manley is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of critical functions such as trading, day-ahead and real-time power markets, market integration, and asset management. Beyond these core functions, he will also play a pivotal role in shaping new service offerings that leverage Guzman’s existing market expertise and operational strengths.
Manley’s background brings a rare blend of military leadership, consulting, and industrial operations experience. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point, he served nine years in the U.S. Army, where he gained hands-on leadership experience as both an infantry platoon leader and a Special Forces detachment commander. His deployments spanned Afghanistan, Africa, and Eastern Europe, where he developed expertise in managing high-pressure environments and leading teams through complex challenges.
Following his military service, Manley earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, pivoting his career toward operational leadership in the private sector. He spent time at McKinsey & Company, advising clients in the energy and materials industries on organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency. Later, he assumed leadership of a growth-oriented industrial manufacturing business unit at Gates Corporation, where he sharpened his skills in scaling operations and driving business results.
At Guzman, Manley’s diverse background positions him to integrate operational rigor with innovative thinking, ensuring the company can scale its activities while maintaining reliability and efficiency. His leadership is expected to be instrumental in guiding the organization through its next phase of growth and helping translate Guzman’s market knowledge into tangible customer benefits.
Expanding Commercial Expertise with Tim Hall
To further enhance customer engagement and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the wholesale power market, Guzman Energy has added Tim Hall as Vice President of Commercial. Hall joins the team with over a decade of experience in the power and utilities sector, bringing expertise across power generation, transmission development, and regulatory affairs.
In his new role, Hall will partner with existing Guzman customers while also cultivating new relationships in growth areas such as data centers, which represent one of the fastest-growing segments of energy demand due to their high-intensity power needs. His commercial responsibilities will also extend to identifying and seizing market opportunities that align with Guzman’s mission of providing flexible and tailored wholesale energy solutions.
Hall’s career includes progressive leadership positions at some of the most respected names in the industry. He has held roles at Southern Company, GridLiance – NextEra Energy, and Tallgrass, where he gained a deep understanding of transmission planning, construction and engineering, system operations, and external affairs. This broad foundation allows him to navigate the complex regulatory and technical landscape of the power sector while building customer-centric solutions.
Academically, Hall holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama and earned his MBA from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, equipping him with both technical and strategic business expertise. His arrival strengthens Guzman Energy’s ability to engage customers with tailored solutions that anticipate future needs in an evolving market.
Enhancing Analytical Capabilities with Andrew Garber
To round out the commercial expansion, Guzman Energy has welcomed Andrew Garber as Director of Commercial Structuring. Garber’s role is centered on applying rigorous business analysis and creative problem-solving to develop optimal energy solutions for Guzman’s customers. His work will be crucial in structuring deals and offerings that balance technical, financial, and customer requirements.
Garber brings over a decade of professional experience spanning program management, business analytics, and application development at organizations such as Visa, Xcel Energy, and Accenture. His ability to apply data-driven insights to complex business challenges positions him as a strong asset in Guzman’s efforts to deliver innovative and customized solutions.
Before entering the corporate world, Garber served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear submarine officer, where he gained valuable experience in leadership, systems management, and high-stakes operations. His academic background is equally impressive: he graduated from the United States Naval Academy, holds an MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business, and earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Garber’s combination of technical expertise and analytical acumen enhances Guzman Energy’s commercial structuring capabilities, enabling the company to deliver tailored solutions in an increasingly complex energy marketplace.
A Strategic Moment of Growth for Guzman Energy
The expansion of Guzman Energy’s leadership team comes at a time of significant change in the U.S. power sector. Demand for clean, reliable, and flexible energy solutions is growing rapidly as utilities, cooperatives, and large power users seek to adapt to the challenges of electrification, grid modernization, and sustainability goals.
By strengthening its operations and commercial teams with leaders like Manley, Hall, and Garber, Guzman Energy is positioning itself to take advantage of new market opportunities while maintaining the agility and customer-focused approach that have defined the company since its founding.
Christopher A. Miller, co-founder and CEO of Guzman Energy, underscored the importance of these new hires in shaping the company’s future:
“We are in a phase of rapid growth and expansion at Guzman Energy. Our most recent additions to our talented team are critical pieces for operational excellence and business growth. We have clarity on our mission, very specific growth ambitions, and the talent required to continue to serve our customers and exceed our goals. We’re excited and ready.”
