From 2025, Nestlé Waters France will use the first hydrogen- powered freight train through an innovative result developed by Alstom and ENGIE

Nestlé Waters will be the first company in Europe to profit from the hydrogen energy cell result
developed by Alstom and ENGIE, for rail freight.
• The purpose is to operate the first hydrogen- powered freight train from the Vosges factory, thanks to a
hydrogen creator cart system developed by Alstom and supplied with renewable hydrogen by
ENGIE, from 2025.
• Eventually, this design should enable Nestlé Waters to reduce1 emigrations by 10 ’ 000 tons of CO2
original per time.
• This new collaboration is in line with the conduct Nestlé Waters has been carried out for several times
to decarbonize its force chain.
In line with its force chain decarbonization roadmap, Nestlé Waters will be the first company in
Europe to profit from the hydrogen energy cell result for massified rail freight, including renewable
hydrogen force, developed by Alstom and ENGIE. It’s estimated that this design will reduce2
emigrations by 10 ’ 000 tons of CO2 fellow per time, in the long term, i.e. the reduction of 90 of its

As a significant invention, the new hydrogen result will be developed from a high- powered energy cell
system that can power electric locomotives innon-electrified areas. This result will be suitable to
transport goods over long distances, on a public and European scale.
From 2025, this freight train powered by electricity from the rail network and from hydrogen in nonelectrified sectors will aim to precipitously insure the transport of VITTEL ® natural mineral water
between the plant located in the Vosges and its colorful distribution centers in France(i.e Vittel/ Arles
600 kms and Vittel/ Montreuil- Bellay 760 kms). The binary- mode result will be composed by a
creator cart incorporating a high- power energy cell system powered by renewable hydrogen and a
line- electric locomotive, all connected by an electrical power string. The generating cart will be suitable
to supply the locomotive with electricity in the without the need for any catenary.
