Formula 2 and Formula 3 mate with Aramco to innovate low- carbon energies from 2023
Formula Motorsport Limited( FML) have moment inked a Memorandum of Understanding( MoU) with Formula 1 Global Partner, Aramco, to introduce the use of sustainable energies in both crowns from 2023. It demonstrates how the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 Crowns are settlers in this important area of development, while continuing to bring the FIA Formula One World titleholders of the future through the single- seater aggregate.

The agreement is subject to FIA World Motor Sport Council blessing. It’ll form part of the wider sustainability strategy blazoned by the FIA and Formula 1, which will see the sport come net zero carbon by 2030.
By 2026, all FIA Crowns will be needed, by regulation, to power their buses with 100 sustainable energies. A crucial corner in the trip will be the preface of a 100 sustainable energy from the 2026 F1 season, alongside the coming generation cold-blooded power units.

Motor sport continues through these inventions not only to promote, but also to be at the van of the creation of the multiple technologies that will play a critical part in the future of the entire transportation assiduity.
Aramco is working on the development of sustainable energies as a “ drop- in ” technology, meaning they could be rolled out to the world’s being automotive line — helping to reduce global transport emigrations.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, said “ Sustainability is at the top of the global motor sport docket, and it’s vital to see this work not only going on in Formula 1, but also in Formula 2, Formula 3 and throughout the entire ecosystem. Our sport is developing and evolving fleetly and it’ll continue to lead the way, introducing the technologies, including sustainable energies, that will be pivotal to attack climate change. We’re a crucial part of the result to the problems we’re facing worldwide. ”
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO, Formula 1, said “ Aramco is a leader in this space and, subject to the blessing of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, will deliver our sustainable energy intentions, working nearly with our associates in F2 and F3, who not only bring through the motorists of the future but offer a superb testing ground for the rearmost engineering in motorsport. In 2026, F1 will move to zero- emigration sustainable energy that offers a game- changing result for the automotive sector and beyond. With the support of Aramco and all our manufacturers, we can accelerate the sector’s move to net zero. ”

Ahmad Al Sa’adi, Senior Vice President of Technical Services, Aramco, said “ Aramco’s ambition is to achieve net- zero compass 1 and compass 2 emigrations across our wholly- possessed operated means by 2050. also, we fete the need to work nearly with our suppliers and guests to reduce emigrations along the entire value chain of our products. This includes those in the transportation sector, where our approach includes redesigning internal combustion machines, and the energies that power them. Our sustainable energies cooperation with F2 and F3 will be an extension of these sweats, and we’re extremely enthusiastic about its eventuality. ”
Ahmad Al- Khowaiter, Chief Technology Officer, Aramco, said “ Aramco is using its unique scale, global network, and technological moxie to help deliver low- carbon transport results. We believe explosively in the power of hookups and, through our collaboration with F2 and F3, we aim to demonstrate the significant eventuality of liquid synthetic energies. We’re exploring practical results that can enable decarbonization of the transport sector, from low- carbon energies and more effective machines to slice- edge accoutrements and carbon prisoner technology. By teaming up with F2 and F3 on this trip, we hope to make a positive impact by enabling emigrations reduction in motorsport and, eventually, the broader transportation sector. ”

Bruno Michel, CEO, FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3, said “ Sustainability is a top precedence in moment’s world, and we’ve been working on making our sport more sustainable for some time now. The thing to switch to synthetic energy can only be achieved through the cooperation with a company of the scale of Aramco, which is determined to produce advanced sustainable energy in the near future. It’s easier to apply such a significant change in F2 and in F3, as they’re single- make orders with single suppliers. We ’re veritably happy to take over an invention part – as we did last season with the preface of the 18- inch tires now used in F1 – and take the first way towards synthetic sustainable energy. ”
