Excelerate Energy, Inc. (NYSE: EE) has entered into an agreement with Wärtsilä Gas Solutions to purchase a reliquefaction system for retrofit installation on one of its floating storage regasification units (FSRUs). This equipment will be adaptable for installation on any of Excelerate’s existing vessels based on customer demand or for future LNG projects.
The retrofit will enhance the environmental performance of Excelerate’s FSRU operations by reliquefying boil-off gas and returning it to the cargo tanks, thereby reducing emissions and conserving cargo. The system incorporates advanced technology designed to minimize maintenance and operational costs.
“We are dedicated to lowering our environmental impact across all operations, and this project is a key component of that commitment. Partnering with Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, known for their expertise in reliquefaction systems and innovative technology, is a natural fit for us,” said David Liner, COO of Excelerate Energy.
Walter Reggente, VP of Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, added, “As a leader in cryogenic gas applications, Wärtsilä has a proven track record in supporting greener shipping operations. Partnering with an industry leader like Excelerate Energy highlights our ability to deliver quality, commercial value, and environmental benefits to our clients.”
The delivery of the Wärtsilä reliquefaction system is scheduled for early 2026.
