Enel X Way, the Enel company dedicated to electric mobility, and ACI – Automobile Club d’Italia have signed a memorandum of understanding, setting the stage for widespread electric mobility by offering people state-of-the-art solutions and increasingly efficient services. The agreement marks the beginning of an important collaboration to enhance e-mobility in order to accelerate the energy transition.
“Driving an electric vehicle does not simply mean to travel sustainably, but to envision and enjoy an innovative, digital and less invasive transport experience,” said Elisabetta Ripa, CEO of Enel X Way. “We are pleased with this collaboration with ACI as we will be able to lay down the guidelines for the present and future of electric mobility in Italy by developing projects and creating synergies based on two key elements: devising solutions that are tailored to users’ needs and the ability to work closely with leading associations and companies in the automotive industry.”
“In these times of transition, marked by changes in mobility, it is essential to be able to rely on experienced partners who play a strategic role in the sector, such as Enel X Way,” said Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of ACI. “The signed MoU is the most effective way to continue the electric mobility efforts that the experimental laboratory has already undertaken at the ACI-SARA Safe Driving Center in Vallelunga.”
This partnership will allow mobility development plans to be shared so as to find suitable areas for installing: Enel X Way charging infrastructure, in both public and private settings, complementing more than 18,000 charging points currently available across the country; cutting-edge technological solutions such as WayMedia – an integrated structure that combines a charging service with multimedia advertising services relating to the local area; and state-of-the-art, ultrafast HPC (High-Power Charging) infrastructures that can fully charge a car in just 20 minutes. Enel X Way provides ACI and the members of the Federation with such services and solutions that are also designed to bring electrification to their offices.
Enel X Way is the Enel Group’s company fully dedicated to electric mobility. Currently, Enel X Way operates in 14 countries and manages over 500,000 public and private charging points, both directly, through joint ventures such as Ewiva in Italy and through roaming agreements in place around the world. As a global platform for e-Mobility, the company is focused on developing flexible charging technologies and solutions to improve the customer experience and to enable the electrification of transport for consumers, businesses, cities and public administrations.
Automobile Club d’Italia – Italy’s largest free association (over one million families) – is an institutional body with deep roots in the local area, comprising more than 100 provincial Automobile Clubs and more than 1,500 delegations. It has been promoting road safety and responsible and sustainable mobility ever since it was founded in 1905. As a founding member of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), ACI is the Italian Motorsport Authority, federated to the CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee), and the only club in Europe in charge of organizing not one, but two Formula One Grand Prix: the Italian Grand Prix (in Monza) and the Made in Italy Emilia Romagna Grand Prix (in Imola). ACI is also a not-for-profit statutory corporation that carries out activities of national importance – such as managing the Public Vehicle Register – providing essential services for the Italian public administration and citizens.
