The Enel Group actively participated in the 79th United Nations General Assembly and New York Climate Week, which took place from September 22nd to 26th. This event featured contributions from the Group and its leadership, focusing on vital topics such as accelerating efforts to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering sustainable economic growth, and promoting a just energy transition.

On September 23rd, Mardegan participated in the ‘Accelerating Action for the SDGs’ roundtable at the UN Global Compact’s Private Sector Forum, hosted by the UN Secretary-General alongside the Summit of the Future. The event gathered global leaders to define pathways for a sustainable future. An Enel case study on sustainable finance was featured in the annual report of the Global Compact’s Forward Faster Campaign, which highlights key pillars of the initiative.
On the same day, Gianni Vittorio Armani, Head of Enel Grids & Innovability, took part in the WBCSD Council Meeting, contributing to the panel on EU support for clean technologies titled ‘Alternative Beneficial Incentives.’ He emphasized the importance of investments in distribution infrastructure for the energy transition, aiming to enhance resilience and hosting capacity. Additionally, Mr. Armani represented Enel at the Annual Meeting of Commissioners of the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality, a leading initiative addressing inequality and promoting a just transition.
On September 24th, Mr. Armani joined the Leaders Summit, a Global Compact event uniting political and business leaders, civil society representatives, and UN officials focused on advancing the SDGs. He spoke during the panel on corporate investments for climate ambitions, discussing the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable development from both environmental and financial perspectives.
Alberto De Paoli, Enel’s Head of Rest of the World, participated on September 26th in the opening speech of the SDG Investment Forum organized by the CFO Coalition. He contributed to the panel on ‘Scaling Up Financial Innovations for Sustainable Development,’ examining how blending public and private finance can drive global sustainable investments. The ‘Revolutionizing Sustainable Finance’ report was also announced at the Forum, featuring an Enel case study on sustainable finance, similar to the one in the Forward Faster Campaign report.
