Clean Energy Expands LNG Solutions in Puerto Rico

Clean Energy Fuels Expands LNG Infrastructure to Strengthen Energy Security in Puerto Rico

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE), one of North America’s leading providers of cleaner fuel solutions for transportation and energy applications, has announced the award of two separate contracts to design and install liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling systems for gas-to-power projects in Puerto Rico. The agreements, signed with P.R. Energy Partners and a global healthcare products supplier, represent a major step in expanding Clean Energy’s LNG infrastructure capabilities while supporting energy reliability and resilience across the island.

The projects will provide dependable energy solutions for critical operations, helping businesses reduce their exposure to grid disruptions while improving power reliability. Through advanced LNG supply systems, Clean Energy will deliver engineered infrastructure designed to support both primary and backup energy needs for commercial, industrial, and power generation applications.

Under the agreement with the global healthcare supplier, Clean Energy will provide LNG station equipment along with complete installation services to support the company’s pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in Puerto Rico. The healthcare company selected natural gas and LNG infrastructure as a reliable energy source to help maintain continuous operations at its manufacturing facilities.

Reliable power is especially important for pharmaceutical and healthcare-related industries, where interruptions can affect production schedules, supply chains, and critical services. By adopting LNG-based energy infrastructure, the company aims to strengthen operational resilience while benefiting from a cleaner-burning fuel alternative.

Clean Energy has also entered into a separate agreement with P.R. Energy Partners, a Puerto Rico-based end-to-end energy solutions provider and infrastructure developer. Under this partnership, Clean Energy will design and build an LNG supply station that will provide fuel for a six-megawatt combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

The CHP system will support luxury residential and hotel operations in Puerto Rico by delivering efficient and dependable energy. Combined heat and power technology allows facilities to generate electricity while capturing and utilizing heat that would otherwise be wasted, improving overall energy efficiency.

“P.R. Energy Partners is committed to providing our customers with clean, reliable power as well as contributing to a more robust and stable energy grid for our island of Puerto Rico,” said Eduardo M. Cortes, Managing Partner at P.R. Energy Partners.

The collaboration reflects growing demand for flexible energy solutions in regions where grid reliability remains a challenge. Puerto Rico has experienced ongoing energy infrastructure challenges, increasing interest among businesses and developers in alternative energy systems that can provide greater independence and security.

“These two agreements represent several firsts for Clean Energy as we expand our LNG infrastructure offering to a new customer base in Puerto Rico,” said Sean Columbia, General Manager of CE Technologies at Clean Energy. “Being chosen as trusted partners and experts in natural gas and LNG supply systems confirms our expansion into different energy services. These projects demonstrate the reliability and scalability of our engineered LNG solutions and will help strengthen energy resilience on the island.”

The agreements mark Clean Energy’s first LNG supply infrastructure projects in Puerto Rico and will collectively support approximately 10 megawatts of installed power capacity. The projects highlight the company’s broader strategy of expanding beyond transportation fuel solutions into energy infrastructure markets where cleaner and more reliable power sources are needed.

Through modular LNG fueling infrastructure, Clean Energy enables customers to transition toward more resilient energy systems that can support a wide range of applications. These include manufacturing facilities, hospitals, data centers, industrial zones, port operations, LNG marine bunkering activities, and distributed power generation facilities operating in areas with limited or constrained grid capacity.

The company’s LNG solutions are designed to provide flexibility, allowing customers to deploy energy systems based on their specific operational requirements. Modular infrastructure can be scaled to meet changing energy demands while offering a dependable alternative to traditional fuel sources.

LNG is recognized as a cleaner-burning fuel compared with conventional fuels such as diesel and fuel oil. Its use can help reduce emissions while maintaining efficient and reliable energy production. For businesses seeking to balance sustainability goals with operational requirements, LNG offers a practical pathway toward cleaner energy adoption.

By expanding its LNG capabilities into Puerto Rico, Clean Energy is positioning itself as a provider of integrated energy solutions beyond the transportation sector. The company’s latest projects demonstrate the growing role of natural gas and LNG infrastructure in supporting energy security, economic activity, and resilience in regions facing power reliability challenges.

As industries continue to prioritize dependable and lower-emission energy options, Clean Energy’s LNG supply systems provide an important solution for organizations seeking cleaner power alternatives without compromising reliability. The Puerto Rico projects represent a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to deliver innovative energy infrastructure solutions across new markets.
