Chevron Announces Executive Leadership Changes

Chevron Announces Treasurer Appointment as Longtime Finance Leader Prepares to Retire

Chevron Corporation has announced an executive leadership transition within its finance organization, naming Uriel “Ose” Oseguera as the company’s next Treasurer. Oseguera will assume the role effective November 1, 2026, succeeding Navin Mahajan, who is preparing to retire from Chevron following nearly three decades with the energy company.

The appointment represents a planned leadership transition for Chevron’s treasury organization at a time when financial discipline, capital allocation, risk management and access to global capital markets remain central to the company’s strategy. Oseguera will take responsibility for a broad range of treasury functions and will report directly to Chevron Chief Financial Officer Eimear Bonner.

In his new position, Oseguera will oversee Chevron’s treasury organization, including activities related to capital markets, corporate finance, insurance, credit and risk management. His responsibilities will place him at the center of the company’s financial planning and risk-management framework, supporting Chevron’s broader efforts to maintain financial strength and create long-term value.

Oseguera currently serves as Chevron’s Vice President of Upstream Business Performance & Finance, a role that has provided him with extensive exposure to the company’s global upstream operations and financial priorities. His move into the Treasurer position builds on a career that has included leadership responsibilities across finance, treasury and planning in multiple international markets.

“Ose brings an exceptional combination of treasury expertise, global business leadership, and deep company knowledge to the Treasurer role,” Bonner said. She highlighted his experience in corporate finance, capital markets and international business leadership as important strengths that will support Chevron’s financial management and long-term strategy.

According to Bonner, Oseguera’s background gives him a broad perspective on financial risk, business performance and value creation. His relationships throughout the company, combined with what Chevron described as sound judgment, are expected to help him guide the treasury organization and reinforce the company’s financial position.

“Ose brings an exceptional combination of treasury expertise, global business leadership, and deep company knowledge to the Treasurer role,” Bonner said. “His experience across corporate finance, capital markets, and international business leadership provides a distinctive perspective on risk management, financial discipline, and value creation.”

Oseguera’s career at Chevron spans more than 35 years. He joined the company in 1990 and has since held a variety of leadership positions involving finance, treasury and planning. His assignments have taken him across several important international and U.S. markets, including Venezuela, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and the United States.

That international experience has exposed Oseguera to different operating environments, financial systems and business conditions, contributing to a broad understanding of Chevron’s global operations. His career progression has also given him experience working across different parts of the company and managing financial priorities in complex business environments.

Before taking on his current position as Vice President of Upstream Business Performance & Finance, Oseguera served as General Manager of Chevron’s Financial Shared Services organization. In that role, he was responsible for a major component of the company’s financial operations and gained additional experience in managing finance-related activities across the organization.

His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College of California. His combination of formal business education and extensive experience at Chevron has positioned him for the expanded responsibilities associated with the Treasurer role.

The appointment also marks the conclusion of Mahajan’s tenure as Chevron Treasurer. Mahajan has held the position since 2019 and will retire from the company after nearly 30 years of service. During his Chevron career, he held leadership positions spanning treasury, finance, compliance and business organizations around the world.

Mahajan’s tenure as Treasurer has included responsibility for critical elements of Chevron’s financial organization and relationships with capital markets. His broader career within the company has given him experience across multiple functions and international business environments, helping him contribute to Chevron’s financial and operational objectives over several decades.

Bonner recognized Mahajan’s contribution to the company and emphasized his leadership qualities and ability to manage challenging situations. She described him as a trusted leader whose expertise and integrity helped strengthen Chevron and its Finance organization.

“Throughout his nearly 30 years with Chevron, Navin has been a trusted leader whose expertise, integrity, and commitment have strengthened our company and Finance organization,” Bonner said.

She also praised Mahajan’s ability to respond to complex challenges and make thoughtful decisions in high-pressure situations. His leadership, according to Chevron, combined innovation and financial discipline with a practical approach to decision-making.

“You could always count on Navin when the challenges were most complex and the stakes were highest,” Bonner said. “His rare combination of innovation, discipline, and thoughtful decision-making enabled him to navigate complexity, inspire teams and deliver lasting impact.”

The transition from Mahajan to Oseguera provides Chevron with continuity within its treasury leadership while bringing a new executive into the role with extensive experience across the company. Oseguera’s long tenure at Chevron means he is already familiar with the organization, its operating businesses and its financial priorities, potentially allowing for a smooth transition.

Treasury functions are particularly important for a large global energy company such as Chevron because they support the management of liquidity, financing, financial risk, insurance and relationships with capital markets. Effective treasury management can help an energy company maintain flexibility as it responds to changes in commodity markets, investment requirements, operating conditions and broader economic developments.

Oseguera’s experience in both corporate finance and upstream business performance provides a combination of financial and operational knowledge that could be valuable in the Treasurer role. His previous assignments in several countries have also given him experience with international operations and the financial considerations associated with a globally integrated energy business.

Chevron’s leadership transition reflects the company’s approach to succession planning and the development of experienced internal executives. By selecting a longtime Chevron leader for the Treasurer position, the company is retaining institutional knowledge while preparing its finance organization for the next phase of its development.

For Oseguera, the appointment represents another step in a career that has progressed through increasingly senior finance and business leadership positions. His responsibilities beginning November 1 will expand to encompass the treasury organization and a range of activities that directly support Chevron’s financial strategy.

For Mahajan, the transition concludes a long career with Chevron that included senior responsibilities in finance, treasury, compliance and business operations. His nearly 30 years of service represent a significant period in Chevron’s corporate history, and the company has credited his leadership with producing a lasting impact on its Finance organization.

As Oseguera prepares to take over as Treasurer, Chevron will continue to focus on maintaining financial discipline and managing risks across its global portfolio. His experience, combined with his longstanding knowledge of the company, is expected to support the organization’s continued emphasis on financial strength, effective risk management and long-term value creation.
