Bloom Energy Launches Power Connect to Cut Onsite Installation Time by More Than 40%
Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE), a global provider of power solutions, has introduced Power Connect, a new deployment system designed to reduce onsite power installation time by more than 40%. The company said the system is intended to help customers bring new power capacity online more quickly while improving schedule predictability and simplifying the installation process.
The launch comes as demand for reliable electricity continues to rise across several energy-intensive industries. Data centers, advanced manufacturing facilities and other large commercial and industrial operations are seeking additional power capacity to support expanding operations. For many projects, however, the challenge extends beyond generating electricity. Connecting new generation to a facility can require substantial construction work, electrical integration and coordination among multiple contractors, potentially creating delays and increasing project execution risks.
Bloom Energy said Power Connect addresses these challenges by shifting a significant portion of the installation process away from the construction site and into a controlled factory environment. Rather than completing much of the electrical integration after equipment arrives at a project location, the new system is prepared before shipment.
Power Connect is delivered pre-connected, pre-wired and tested, allowing it to arrive at the project site in a condition that is ready for installation. By completing more of the work in advance, Bloom aims to reduce the amount of onsite construction and electrical work required before a system can begin operating.
The company said this approach can create a more standardized and repeatable deployment process. It can also reduce the number of complex tasks that must be coordinated in the field, potentially making project schedules easier to manage.
For customers facing urgent power requirements, the reduction in onsite work could be particularly important. Electricity demand is increasing rapidly in applications such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, advanced manufacturing and other high-load operations. As organizations seek to expand facilities or secure additional electricity, delays in installing power infrastructure can affect broader development schedules.
Power Connect is designed to help address that issue by moving installation complexity upstream into manufacturing. Instead of relying as heavily on field-based integration, the system uses factory-controlled preparation to complete critical electrical connections before delivery.
Bloom Energy described the system as another component of its broader speed-to-power strategy. The company believes that reducing the amount of work required at the project site can allow customers to transition from power project approval to operational generation more efficiently.
Joe Tavi, Head of Bloom Energy’s Customer Installation Group, said Power Connect reflects the company’s effort to rethink the traditional power deployment process.
“Power Connect is the latest innovation supporting our speed-to-power advantage,” Tavi said. “It reflects how we’re rethinking the entire power deployment process, moving complexity out of the field and into a controlled manufacturing process.”
According to Bloom, standardizing critical electrical integration can create a simpler installation model. The approach is intended to improve consistency across projects while reducing the number of activities that need to be completed onsite.
The system could also help address workforce constraints affecting electrical construction. Skilled electrical workers are in demand across the energy, construction, manufacturing and data center industries. As more projects compete for qualified electricians and other specialized trades, reducing the amount of field labor required for individual installations could allow existing workers to support a larger number of projects.
Bloom said Power Connect enables available electricians to concentrate their expertise on the onsite activities where their involvement is most valuable. By completing more repetitive and standardized work in the factory, the company aims to reduce pressure on field construction teams without compromising the requirements of electrical installation.
This workforce advantage could become increasingly significant as power infrastructure deployment accelerates. Data center development, in particular, is creating substantial demand for new generation and electrical infrastructure. Developers and operators are looking for solutions that can provide dependable power while meeting increasingly aggressive construction and commissioning schedules.
Bloom’s approach focuses not only on the generation technology itself but also on the process required to deploy it. The company said Power Connect is intended to make that process more predictable by reducing onsite complexity and creating greater consistency between manufacturing and installation.
Factory-based preparation can also provide greater control over quality and testing. Components can be connected and tested before they are transported to the customer site, allowing potential issues to be identified earlier in the deployment process. This can reduce the amount of troubleshooting that must take place during onsite installation and potentially shorten the path to commissioning.
The system’s pre-integrated design is therefore intended to address several aspects of project execution at the same time, including labor requirements, installation complexity, commissioning schedules and consistency.
Bloom Energy is manufacturing and assembling Power Connect in the United States through its domestic manufacturing network. The company said the production strategy extends its focus on American innovation and domestic manufacturing while supporting the deployment of new power infrastructure.
The domestic manufacturing component also provides a link between product development and deployment. By producing and assembling the system within its U.S. manufacturing network, Bloom can integrate installation-related processes into the manufacturing stage rather than treating onsite construction as a separate activity.
The company views this manufacturing-led approach as an important part of improving the overall customer experience. Power Connect is intended to simplify the transition between equipment production, transportation and onsite installation, creating a more streamlined deployment sequence.
As electricity demand grows and organizations increasingly prioritize speed and reliability when adding power capacity, reducing installation time could become an important differentiator for power technology providers. Projects that can reduce construction requirements and accelerate commissioning may help customers respond more quickly to new electricity needs.
Bloom Energy said Power Connect is designed to support that objective by bringing a larger portion of the power installation process under factory-controlled conditions. With equipment arriving pre-connected, pre-wired and tested, customers can reduce the amount of electrical integration required at the project site.
The company expects the system to complement its existing power solutions and strengthen its ability to deliver power capacity on compressed schedules. By combining standardized manufacturing with simplified onsite deployment, Bloom is positioning Power Connect as another tool for customers seeking faster and more predictable access to electricity.
The introduction of Power Connect highlights a broader shift in power infrastructure toward modularization, factory integration and faster deployment. As data centers, industrial facilities and other power-intensive customers face growing electricity requirements, technologies that reduce onsite construction and make deployment more repeatable could play an increasingly important role.
Bloom’s new system is designed around that principle, moving complexity from the field into the factory and reducing the amount of work required after equipment reaches the customer. With a claimed reduction of more than 40% in onsite power installation time, Power Connect represents Bloom Energy’s latest effort to accelerate the path from power project development to operational electricity.
