In light of recent commentary on the Korea Hydrogen Portfolio Standard auction, Bloom anticipates that shipment volumes to Korea will remain consistent in 2024 and the following years. The company expects its partner, SK ecoplant Co., Ltd., to purchase 500 MW of Bloom solid oxide fuel cells from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027.
Bloom is a leader in solid oxide fuel cell technology, achieving 60% electrical efficiency with hydrogen and 90% combined heat and power efficiency. The company remains confident in its Korean partners and believes that Bloom fuel cells can significantly impact the Korean energy market. The public auction is just one avenue for selling their energy servers; other development projects are also underway.
“Korea is an important market for Bloom Energy,” stated Aman Joshi, Bloom’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We fully expect our partner SK to continue excelling, bolstered by the advantages of Bloom’s solid oxide fuel cells.”
Bloom’s cutting-edge technology positions it as the leader in efficiency and total cost of ownership for fuel cell energy generation. The company is committed to the Korean market through its manufacturing joint venture and expanding local supplier network, looking forward to future opportunities with SK.
