Base Power Expands to Dallas, Bringing Reliable Home Energy and Grid Support to Millions of Texans
Base Power has officially announced its expansion into Dallas, marking a pivotal milestone in the company’s mission to transform how energy is delivered to households across Texas. With this move, Base is broadening access to its innovative battery-powered home energy model, making it available to residents throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex—including Dallas, Irving, Coppell, North Richland Hills, Arlington, and surrounding communities. This expansion means that more than seven million Texans now live within Base’s statewide service footprint, putting the company at the forefront of energy innovation in one of the country’s fastest-growing regions.
A Milestone in Base’s Growth Journey
“Expanding into Dallas is a major milestone for Base—one we’ve been building towards since day one,” said Zach Dell, CEO and co-founder of Base Power. “This city reflects the scale and ambition behind our mission, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally serve the thousands of households that have been waiting for a better energy solution.”
Since its launch in 2023, Base has positioned itself as more than just another energy provider. It has set out to tackle two critical challenges facing Texas: the increasing strain on the state’s power grid and homeowners’ growing demand for reliable, affordable backup power. The company’s expansion into DFW, one of the nation’s most dynamic and energy-intensive urban areas, represents a major step toward delivering on that promise at scale.
Rapid Statewide Expansion
Base began its journey in the Austin area, initially targeting communities like Round Rock, Pflugerville, Temple, and Killeen. From there, the company quickly expanded into Houston, serving Harris County as well as suburban areas like Katy, Sugar Land, and Magnolia. Its latest move into Dallas and Fort Worth builds on this momentum, allowing the company to serve homeowners across Texas’s three largest metropolitan regions.
The company’s growth has been fueled by strong investor confidence, having raised more than $270 million in funding to date. These resources have enabled Base to expand operations, scale its technology, and form partnerships with key industry players. Notably, Base has teamed up with national homebuilder Lennar to integrate backup energy solutions into new housing developments and with innovative utilities like GVEC and Bandera Electric Cooperative, which are eager to adopt forward-thinking approaches to grid management.
Establishing a Presence in North Texas
To support its expansion in Dallas–Fort Worth, Base has opened a dedicated office and warehouse in Grapevine, strategically located in the heart of the metroplex. The facility is already staffed with over ten full-time employees, with plans to grow the local team significantly in the coming months. These employees are part of Base’s broader workforce of more than 200 professionals spread across its Austin headquarters, Bay Area engineering hub, and field operations across Texas.
This local presence ensures that Base can provide timely installation, maintenance, and customer support for homeowners in the region, while also enabling the company to engage directly with community stakeholders, local governments, and utility partners.
Rethinking Home Energy
At the core of Base’s offering is a simple, all-in-one energy plan designed to give homeowners reliable backup power without the steep costs traditionally associated with backup generators or solar-plus-battery systems. Every Base plan includes a whole-home backup battery that automatically activates when the grid goes down, keeping households powered during outages.
What sets Base apart from other solutions is its unique revenue model. Rather than relying solely on homeowner payments to cover costs, Base earns revenue by providing services to the grid. By aggregating thousands of distributed home batteries, the company is able to offer valuable grid support—helping balance supply and demand, reduce strain during peak hours, and provide backup during emergencies. This model lowers the financial barrier for homeowners, allowing Texans to access reliable backup power starting at just $695 for installation and $19 per month.
For homeowners with solar panels, Base batteries can seamlessly integrate, storing excess energy for use when needed. For those without solar, the system still provides uninterrupted power during outages and opportunities to save money through optimized energy usage.
Addressing Texas’s Energy Challenges
Texas has faced repeated challenges in maintaining grid reliability in recent years, from the winter storm of February 2021 to increasingly frequent summer heatwaves that push demand to record highs. These events have highlighted the urgent need for new approaches to energy resilience and grid stability.
Base’s model directly addresses this challenge by creating a distributed energy resource (DER) network that both strengthens the grid and provides tangible benefits to individual households. By scaling across Texas’s largest urban centers, Base is helping reduce the state’s reliance on centralized, vulnerable infrastructure while giving families peace of mind that their homes will remain powered even when the grid falters.
Building Toward the Future
The expansion into Dallas is only the beginning of Base’s broader ambitions. With strong financial backing, growing partnerships, and a rapidly expanding customer base, the company is positioning itself as a leader in the transition to a more resilient, decentralized energy future.
As Zach Dell noted, “Texas has always been a proving ground for innovation in energy. By expanding into Dallas, we’re not just growing our footprint—we’re showing that it’s possible to rethink the way energy is delivered, making it more reliable, more affordable, and more sustainable for everyone.”
Looking ahead, Base plans to continue expanding across Texas while also exploring opportunities to bring its model to other states facing similar grid challenges. With its combination of homeowner-focused solutions and grid-scale impact, the company is well positioned to play a central role in shaping the future of residential energy.
A New Era of Energy for Texans
For Dallas–Fort Worth residents, the arrival of Base means access to an energy solution that is both practical and forward-looking. Families who have endured rolling blackouts, prolonged outages, or high utility bills now have a new option—one that combines reliability, affordability, and sustainability.
By leveraging cutting-edge battery technology, strategic partnerships, and a community-centered approach, Base Power is not only redefining home energy but also strengthening the resilience of the Texas grid as a whole. As more households adopt this model, the collective benefits will grow, creating a more stable energy ecosystem capable of meeting the state’s surging demand.
In many ways, Base’s expansion into Dallas is more than just a company milestone—it represents a turning point in how Texans can think about and manage their home energy. With a focus on both individual reliability and statewide grid support, Base Power is helping pave the way toward a more resilient and sustainable energy future for millions of people.
