Aspen Power Appoints Alex Figueroa as CFO

Aspen Power, a leading distributed generation platform, has announced the appointment of Alex Figueroa as Chief Financial Officer, adding an experienced renewable energy finance executive to its leadership team as the company continues to expand its solar and battery storage portfolio across the United States.

In his new role, Figueroa will oversee Aspen Power’s finance organization and lead a broad range of financial activities, including capital markets, financial planning and analysis, accounting, and corporate reporting. His appointment comes as Aspen Power continues to scale its distributed generation platform and pursue opportunities across the growing U.S. solar and energy storage markets.

Figueroa brings extensive experience in renewable energy development, corporate finance, capital raising, and investment management to Aspen Power. Most recently, he served as Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of Verogy, a solar development company, where he was responsible for capital raising as well as the company’s broader finance functions.

During his tenure at Verogy, Figueroa worked across the financial requirements associated with developing and scaling solar projects. His experience includes building financial strategies, managing capital relationships, and supporting the growth of renewable energy assets, providing a background directly aligned with Aspen Power’s expansion strategy.

Before joining Verogy, Figueroa served as Chief Financial Officer of Greenskies Renewable Energy. In that position, he was a key member of the transaction team involved in the company’s sale to Clean Focus Corporation in 2017. His experience at Greenskies further strengthened his understanding of renewable energy businesses, corporate transactions, and the financial considerations involved in building and transitioning clean energy platforms.

Earlier in his career, Figueroa spent nearly a decade at Goldman Sachs, where he managed investment portfolios for the firm’s foundation, endowment, and ultra-high-net-worth clients. His time in investment management provided experience across portfolio strategy, financial analysis, capital allocation, and investment decision-making.

Figueroa’s combination of investment management and renewable energy operating experience is expected to support Aspen Power as the company continues to develop, finance, and operate distributed generation projects throughout the United States.

“Aspen has assembled a proven portfolio, a talented team, and a clear strategy at exactly the moment distributed energy matters most. That combination is rare, and it’s why I’m here,” said Figueroa. “The job in front of us now is making sure the finance function keeps pace with the platform, so that every project we develop, build, and operate delivers real value for the communities and partners we serve.”

The appointment also reflects Aspen Power’s continued focus on strengthening its executive organization as distributed energy resources become an increasingly important component of the U.S. electricity system. Solar generation and battery storage projects can provide additional generation capacity while supporting a more distributed approach to energy infrastructure.

For developers such as Aspen Power, scaling these projects requires access to capital, disciplined financial planning, effective project economics, and the ability to manage the financial requirements associated with development, construction, and long-term operations. Figueroa’s experience across renewable energy companies and institutional investment management positions him to lead those functions as Aspen expands its platform.

Michael Sheehan, Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Power, highlighted Figueroa’s experience building and financing distributed generation businesses and his ability to manage financial functions in a rapidly developing industry.

“Alex has built and financed distributed generation companies from the ground up, and he knows what it takes to turn good projects into lasting value,” said Sheehan. “He has raised capital, closed transactions, and led finance teams that move at the pace this industry demands. As we grow our solar and storage portfolio, Alex gives us the financial leadership needed to deliver for our partners with speed and discipline. His arrival completes a leadership team built for Aspen’s next chapter.”

Figueroa’s arrival completes the recent expansion of Aspen Power’s executive leadership team. The company previously appointed Michael Sheehan as Chief Executive Officer and Jason Patsio as Chief Commercial Officer.

The leadership appointments come as Aspen Power continues to position its business around distributed generation, solar energy, and battery storage. The company’s strategy centers on expanding its portfolio while working with partners and communities to develop and operate energy projects across the United States.

As the distributed energy sector evolves, financial leadership is becoming increasingly important for companies seeking to grow project portfolios while managing capital requirements and long-term investment considerations. Aspen Power’s addition of Figueroa brings an executive with experience spanning renewable energy development, corporate transactions, capital raising, and institutional investment management into a key position within the organization.

With Figueroa now leading finance, Aspen Power will continue focusing on the development, construction, and operation of its solar and storage portfolio. His responsibilities across capital markets, financial planning and analysis, accounting, and reporting will support the company’s efforts to scale its operations and maintain financial discipline as new projects move through the development and investment lifecycle.

The appointment therefore represents another step in Aspen Power’s broader executive build-out and its effort to establish the financial and commercial capabilities required for its next phase of growth in the U.S. distributed energy market.
