“IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing” Powers MAZDA SPIRIT RACING ROADSTER CNF in SUZUKA S Endurance Race

Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. has introduced a new engine oil, IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing, which was utilized in the MAZDA SPIRIT RACING ROADSTER CNF concept car during the ST-Q Class of the SUZUKA Super Taikyu race held on September 28-29. This innovative oil, designed for racing performance while contributing to carbon neutrality, enabled the car to complete the 5-hour endurance race successfully, showcasing its exceptional capabilities.

This engine oil is the world’s first for four-wheeled vehicles made with over 80% plant-derived base oil, featuring both racing performance and API SP certification. The Super Taikyu Series demands engine oil that maintains performance, durability, and low evaporation rates under extreme conditions while ensuring acceleration and protection.

IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing leverages Idemitsu’s advanced technology to enhance engine performance and reduce environmental impact. Utilizing proprietary formulation technology called Molybdenum x Plant-derived Ester Technology, Idemitsu has created a product that meets the rigorous performance requirements of racing.

Mazda aims for carbon neutrality in fuel and carbon negativity through technologies like CO₂ capture, aligning with the principles of IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing. The successful engine performance and reliability demonstrated in tests conducted by MAZDA SPIRIT RACING reinforced the decision to adopt this product.

This high-performance model inherits the DNA of the IDEMITSU IFG/IRG Series, which is available in 13 countries where Idemitsu sells lubricants, and is set to launch in November 2024.

Since its founding in 1911, Idemitsu has focused on precisely tailored lubricant formulations, continually refining its technological expertise. The company is committed to developing unique products that cater to driving enthusiasts.

Additional Notes:

  • ST-Q Class refers to a category in the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2024 Empowered by BRIDGESTONE Round 5.
  • The base oil in IDEMITSU IFG Plantech Racing is made from 100% renewable plant-derived materials, resulting in carbon negativity by absorbing more CO₂ during raw material cultivation than emitted during production.
  • According to a market survey conducted between December 2023 and February 2024, this is the world’s first engine oil for four-wheeled vehicles to achieve API certification, utilize plant-derived oil, and deliver racing performance.
  • Idemitsu’s unique blending technology combines molybdenum to minimize frictional loss with high-viscosity plant-derived esters to enhance oil film thickness and protection performance.
