Global energy technology company SLB (NYSE: SLB) is enhancing its longstanding partnership with NVIDIA to develop generative AI solutions tailored for the energy industry.
This collaboration aims to accelerate the creation and deployment of industry-specific generative AI foundation models across SLB’s global platforms, including the Delfi™ digital platform and the Lumi™ data and AI platform. By leveraging NVIDIA NeMo™, part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software suite, SLB will develop custom generative AI that can operate in data centers, any cloud environment, or at the edge.
Together, SLB and NVIDIA will optimize AI models to meet the unique demands of the data-intensive energy sector, focusing on subsurface exploration, production operations, and data management. This initiative is expected to empower energy domain experts—researchers, scientists, and engineers—to engage with complex technical processes in innovative ways, driving greater value and reducing carbon footprints.

The collaboration between SLB and NVIDIA dates back to 2008, focusing on using graphics processing units (GPUs) for subsurface imaging and geoscience interpretation. Over the years, they have worked closely to enhance SLB’s high-performance computing and visualization technologies on the Delfi platform. The integration of NVIDIA NeMo and NVIDIA NIM™ inference microservices will provide customers with a robust platform to leverage generative AI in their technical workflows.
