rPlus Energies Launches 400 MW Solar PV and Battery Project at Green River Energy Center

rPlus Energies has officially broken ground on the Green River Energy Center, a significant project in Eastern Utah featuring 400 megawatts (MW) of solar PV and 400 MW/1,600 megawatt-hours of battery storage. As one of the largest solar-plus-storage projects in the U.S., it will supply power to PacifiCorp under a power purchase agreement. Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the project’s importance for rural Utah, stating, “Today, we’re not just breaking ground—we’re building a future of affordable, abundant energy in Utah.”

Having secured over $1 billion in construction financing earlier this year, the project is expected to create around 500 jobs, primarily for local workers, while boosting Emery County’s economy through increased tax revenue and enhanced public services.

Sundt Construction serves as the EPC contractor, with EliTe Solar supplying the solar modules and Tesla providing the battery storage system. rPlus Energies President and CEO Luigi Resta acknowledged the critical role of partnerships in the project’s success, saying, “From our equipment providers to the onsite talent, we owe this project’s success to each of you.”

rPlus Energies is dedicated to developing and operating large-scale renewable energy projects across the U.S., focusing on solar, battery, wind, and pumped storage hydro facilities. The company is based in Salt Lake City and supported by Sandbrook Capital and Gardner Group.
